how abt filter? i heard from my friend that it can protect the lens

That is really up to you. Some people put UV or protective filters on, some just use a lens hood all the time.

Personally., I use kenko pro 1 D protective filters. But I will take them off when I shoot at night or darker hours.

Hi all,
Just got my D90 kit yesterday with an additional Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8.
A previous D50 user.

Looking forward to using it soon. :)

Lens hood can protect the lens too..
But seriously if u wan to put ur mind at ease, invest in a quality one that is easy to clean and won degrade ur IQ when in use.. And save ur front elements form dust intrudion (hassle of cleaning after use) and such :)

thanks for the advice
just got the lens filter

wah so good... then I sell my D300 change to D90 and forget about D700... save some $$$....:devil:

Hi Everyone.

I am thinking of getting prime lens as a 2nd lens (I have the D90 18-105mm kit now)

Am set on either the 50 or 85. But I need to know if the difference in F between 1.4 & 1.8 will be a big significance in picture Quality & bokeh? (Don't talk about price. I know big difference.)

If the difference is negligible, the I don't mind the 1.8, but if it's at one look and can tell the difference, then might as well buy the 1.4.

Errr... Bro.. D700 is diff leh.. FX still prevails in most occasions but DX still as its goods becos of its higher pixel density and features.. D300 is similar to D700 in terms of handling(ergonomics) so the best pair is actually D300/D700 if u are fine without video (which doesnt really shout wow) and ok with weight/price.. :)

85 might be too tight for DX for general use, it will make a good tele portrait though.

50 is much suitable as a short tele and walk about..

Of cos it boils down to ur preference.

This topic has been discussed mutiple times (lost count)

maybe this helps :)

Hi all,
I kept encountering the camera hanging after a couple of shots or sometimes even just starting up. It shows f/90 and then a CHA message and nothing but a battery pull will clear it. Even after I power off camera, the message will still stay there.

Wonder if there is something wrong with this unit and if anyone else has this experience and what to do. I just got this a couple of days ago... sian...

TIA.

I did too! Went on to buy the D300s for those super sniper shots but now I just read that D90 rank higher than D300s according to here:mad2:. Maybe when the D90s come out I'l change back:lovegrin:

question....
why is it the shutter speed is limited to 1/200 when i attach an external flash whereas it can go up to 1/4000 without a flash?
is that a default setting? can it be adjusted to a higher speed with flash?
