Thanks for the advice. Will consider getting MF lenses when I've got the moolah! ;)

Remember to get AiS lenses. Pre-Ai lenses will not work on any of the modern day DSLRs.

Hi guys, just got my D90 a couple of months back.

Just wondering if anyone is using MF lenses on their D90 and how they deal with the lack of metering?

I'm one of those who are trying to get the most out of the MF lenses on the D90 as well. Aperture on on the lens ring, and shutter in the 'M' mode. Can only use the LCD view to check the exposure..., unless you've got a light meter.....Sometimes light meter may be slower than trying out different shots at different exposures..... :bsmilie:

hey all!! haha bought the 35 1.8 in the end cauase i realise i can borrow a 50 1.8 from my friend! haha :D yup its tact sharp right down center even wide open. however even with the afs it seems to focus not that quickly as compared to the 50mm haha or perhaps i just cant hear the focusing hehe >.<

Many thks bro, least i got something to work on, so many types in the market don't know where to start. Read many reviews but want something that really suits the d90 from users experience point of view.

yea i heard 50mm is definitely sharper... and even the f1.4 is sharper than the f1.8

okay I am in kind of a situation....:dunno:.... I am cameraless, my D200 is gone and I am left with a Nikon 35mm/f2, Tokina 100mm Macro and SB600 flash..... initially am considering a D300s, but looking at the cost of D300s, if I get that, I will have no $$$ left for other lens.... I use my 35mm to take my kid indoor.... sometime I use 50,mm (since sold) for tighter shot..... and of course the usual macro and architecture shoot ( i dont have a wide angle lens and a walk about lens yet)....... am now considering the D90, but I am not sure I will miss anything from D300s.... :dunno:..... but with D90, I can prob get a Tamron 17-50mm and Tokina 116....

Another way is to sell off my gear and maybe look at Pentax.... but if I will be to rebuild the system, K7+Flash+35mm+Macro+17-50.... think back to square one... that is $$$not enough????

Hi,
Anyone has the problem with ur D90 on focusing? I found that my camera got focusing problem especially i wanna snap the photo in night time. It is hard to get the focus point using auto focus. But when i swith to the live view, i can get the thing focus (green box signal blinking) then only i can snap the photo..

ANy problem with the setting? Moreover, can anyone teach me how to use braketing for D90?

AF-area mode
Single point, dynamic area, auto area and 3D tracking (11 points).. anyone know the difference and how to choose the right one in right situation?

Focus Point wrap around.. what is that?

thanks.

Hi, anyone can share the photos here and provide some information for the apeture, shutter speed and ISO.

Thanks.

ANy problem with the setting? Moreover, can anyone teach me how to use braketing for D90? no there's no problem with ur camera it's just that the kit lens performs quite slow at night. u shld set the focus point and focus on a lighted subject to get ur shot. erm bracketing is explained in ur manual so please read ur manual or just search online there's tons of tutorials :)

AF-area mode
Single point, dynamic area, auto area and 3D tracking (11 points).. anyone know the difference and how to choose the right one in right situation? personally i use single point. 3d shifts ur focus automatically when ur subject shifts. dynamic is when u choose a single point and the rest around it will take over if ur subject moves. and auto is just auto it selects what to focus for u

Focus Point wrap around.. what is that? it just means the focus point will appear on the left end when you continue to press right on the right end, focus point will appear on top when you continue to press down (and vice versa)

thanks.

just my simple interpretations hope it makes sense to u :)

Hi Jason,

Thanks. The lense i using is tamrom 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II... maybe as u said under the insufficient light condition. As i know the live view can move the box or focus point.. am i right?
