Thanks Azman,

No, unfortunately I had literally stopped for about 8-10 yrs and gone into P&S. Used to be right hand camera, left hand lens. After 2 kids, it had become right hand diapers, left hand milk bottles. Even by compartmented camera back pack had become compartmented bag for kids clothes and milk powder....:embrass: That's the reason for P&S conversion.:bsmilie:

I had lost most of it, but then, theory still have some....

I wanted to get a flash for my D90 lately. Considering SB900 but reviews said not worth for the extra bucks compared to SB800.
Could someone give me some advices?

Thanks.

this is very depend on how much the budget inside ur pocket...
if ur pocket allow u to do so...y not go to SB900...

but to me...becos i having very tight budget...so only can go for 3rd party...
but i very happy with my Nissin Di622...at least it can support up to what i had paid...:)

Hi all seniors again,

Can someone advice me on how to clean up the LCD?

I did not get a screen protector thinking that the plastic cover (bundled) is good enough to protect the screen. But when I remove it to check lately, I can see spots (not sure if it is dirt or scratches as they are too small) on it.

I tried using micro fibre (dry) to wipe but cannot remove.

Is there any liquid or alcohol that I can use to clean the screen? will alcohol damage the plastic screen?

Please help. Thanks

Welcome to the thread AhQiang :)

Maybe it's true that the SB900 is not worth the extra bucks but then again...maybe not.
However, that is not that important.

The more important thing is...what do you plan to do with a flash ? Once you have a rough plan, then perhaps you can buy a flash that fits your plan well.

1. If you just want to bounce the flash off the ceiling, you may want to purchase the Nikon SB-400.

2. If you want to bounce the flash off the ceiling, sidewall or backwall or if you want to set your external flash as a slave and position it on a tripod or on the floor, perhaps you want to consider purchasing the Nikon SB-600.

3. If you want to bounce the flash off the ceiling, sidewall or backwall or if you want to set your external flash as a slave and position it on a tripod or on the floor, or if you want your flash to fire off several flashes during a long exposure (strobe flash) perhaps you want to consider purchasing the Nikon SB-900.

However, if you want to do the above and don't mind buying a 3rd-Party flash...

Nikon SB-400 = Nissin Di422
Nikon SB-600 = Nissin Di622
Nikon SB-900 = Nissin Di866

Just my 2 cents.

Cheerio !! :D

Hi Azman,

Thanks for your advice.
I wanted my flash mainly for indoor shooting. Yes, to bounce around to get soft light on people.
Not considering for mulitple flashes at the moment but maybe in the future.
Notice the range different between SB900 and the previous models. Not sure if the extra range makes a difference?

How abt SB800? not good? better than SB600 or not?

Hi PurchaserChua,

Thanks.

What is that liquid? I don't wear spec so I am not too sure.
Does it remove dirt effectively? or just remove the fingerprint better?

Hi all D90 users,

This is a great forum thread! =)
just wanna ask is it true that a lens kit of a wider range like from 18-250 has poorer quality compared to using 2 lens which cover this range (i.e. 18-105 and then another lends fr 100 plus to 250)

Thanks

If you are referring to the distance range, perhaps you can notice the difference when you bounce the flash of the wall behind you to take a portrait shot of a person standing in front of you. If the wall is quite a distance away, the extra range can make the difference. Remember, the flash has to travel to te wall and back.

I use the SB-800 and I am very pleased with it. However, Nikon is not selling the SB-800 anymore and you can only buy used ones from shops or right here from CSers. It is a bit of a gamble to buy used flashes because there is no way for you to tell how much it has been used or abused if there is not external signs on it.

I bought a used SB-800 and after about 2500 flashes (approximately based on my camera shutter count) it started to misfire :(

Although its range is much shorter, the SB-600 does most of what the SB-800 does.
You only can't set it to be the Master and you can't use it as a Strobe Flash but your D90 flash can do that :D (bought it in Sep 2008 but I just discovered this yesterday :bsmilie:)

Perhaps the SB-600 will fit more into your plan :)

Thanks Azman.

Really appreciated. Will read up more of the differences between these 2 and make a decision. by the way, is the diffuser that bundles with the flash better than those paper diffuser sold seperately? which one can provide a better result? (i mean in term of giving better soft light)

Thanks again.
