lol my lcd protector is scratched too. well considering the gss one instead, but it may not be as solid as the default one. the default one looks like can take some knocks. i've collected a lot of scratches from a 3 week old camera, but so far not affecting me yet. can the plastic cover be bought?

I have been hearing a lot about shutter count and when someone is selling their DSLR, they always state the shutter count. I have some questions regarding shutter count and hope that someone can enlighten me. TIA...

1. What constitutes to normal shutter count?
2. What happens when your shutter count is too high?
3. What must be done when your shutter count is too high?
4. If something must be done when the shutter count is high, what is the count?

The shutter count is nothing but an indicator/reference data of how used the camera is. It is up to each individual to draw their own conclusions to the shutter count.

If someone puts in shutter count in 4.5fps continuous mode for a just few seconds a week, the shutter is going to go real quick. But if it's like one shot in several minutes regularly, I believe it's going to last a whole lot longer even, say, after a year, the shutter count for both ways of using it could be the same.

Does taking Video adds up to the shutter count?

I just posted this in another thread.

For those who do not already know it, Nikon has Digitutor webpages which runs through the basic functions of the camera. If the manual doesn't make head or tail, then maybe can try the digitutors. Even as someone who have been shooting for many years already, I find the digitutors useful especially when it comes to the newer features.

This one is for D90.

Hey, thanks! Haven't got the time to explore too much but it seems useful to me.

Yes, it does.. becos you need to open the shutter in order for you to take a video. Every open = 1 shutter count.

Yes I believe a replacement can be bought.

The LCD protector is meant to be on the camera when the camera is stowed away. It is not that clear to see through, and in bright sunlight, it is terrible.

I recommend you keep the protector at home in your box. and get a GSS screen installed.

1) Use a higher ISO
2) use slow sync flash to use a slower shutter speed to expose the background
3) Use flash to expose your subject to minimize shake.
4) use a tripod.

Should be configured at D90 because it tells the camera to also meter the ambient light. No manuals with me now.

Turn the dial to nite mode. Its page 42 of your manual.
Please go read your camera's manual, that's one of the most important thing to do when you buy a new camera. All your questions are answered in there ;)

hello csers, i am interested in getting a D90, would you all advice to get a D90 now?
i look around the forum heard the price dropped and
also heard that there is a replacement for D90 soon, would like to ask if the replacement would have any major improvements like new technology which D90 does not have but currently some new models have it?
i am most likely will be the type that goes to the streets, overseas, parties, and those random point and shoot along the way,
i am interested in the one which has 18 to 105VR, because my brother in law has a D5000 with 35mm so can lend, oh and
how long does a fully charged batt last, able to shoot throughout the day so i need not bring a spare batt when i am overseas out on the streets.

i split the sentence out as questions haaa..
thank you =D

Well technology always advancing..Replacement = more waiting time? D90 is a good cam to start with unless you wanna wait for her replacement? Not sure about the specs for the replacement..

18-105 is a good decent lens. Maybe you may also consider 18-200 VRII?

For a fully charged battery, it should be able to last for the whole day depending on your usage also. But just in case, get a spare battery.

Do more research and try out the lens. Enjoy your purchase :)
