I think they do. But be prepared to fork out extra 2% for card charges. 2% of 1661 = 33 bucks, enough for a couple of 3rd party batteries.

l am a newbie to DSLR.

1. Can any bro. share with me if l need to turn off the VR on the lens before switching off the camera power? And turn on the VR only after l switch on the camera?

2. How do we know if the VR is working? Any light indicator shown?

Thanks.

1. No need. If we have to, I'd not buy a VR lens, so troublesome.

2. U will notice slight shift when u see thru the viewfinder as u press the shutter and release w/o firing it.

hi guys, i just bought my D90 @ Mini-Challenger @ Funan 2nd floor

D90 kit at $1626.80 (With 8gb card, cleaning kit, nikon bag, nikon tripod)
3rd party 2500hm batt $25

I don't understand why people even buy a 3rd party battery after spending $1600+ on a camera. Do you know if anything happens as a result of the battery, warranty may become invalid? I think Nikon original battery is only $65.

You sound like a rich elitist who think's everyone can afford a $65-only battery if they can buy a $1.6k camera. For a $65 original, he can get 2 3rd party ones and that fulfill his needs at the required budget. For all you know, the camera may have burnt most if not all of the person's budget. There's no 3rd party camera that can fulfill the quality or features required of a D90. That's why it can still be popular at a high price of $1.6k.

I'm not referring to the buy at Mini-Challenger, I'm referring to accessories in general. I always read people saying how they don't understand or insist that people buy original accessories or dry cabinets, but buying cheaper stuff is a risk that people understand and dare to undertake. What's wrong with a dry box if the owner is willing to take the extra effort of monitoring the silica gels and the likes. Similarly, what's wrong with the 3rd party battery if the warranty is not meaningful to the owner?

Ultimately, recommendations are encouraged. But imposing your views and lifestyle and preferences on others is what I don't agree. I believe that everyone has their own budget to work with and something they wish to achieve. If they can handle it well, why make that kind of comments?

Bro, totally agree with you on that.
For me. I buy 2 x 3rd party batt for my D90 for only $40 and they serves me very well.
Performance is just as good as the original.
Original Batt might very well be made in China also. Different brand thats all.
Cheers.

i am new to photography, from wad the salesman told me, the 3rd party batt has a higher capacity of 2500 compared to Nikon's 1500 and with a lower price tag...

u sound like you have a bad experience with 3rd party stuff? so i guess everything you own is original stuff and u totally do not trust 3rd party products?

I guess he is not trying to imposing his views and lifestyle to others by his comment... basically his is just trying to say that the damage to the camera because of the 3rd party battery will not covered in the camera warranty. Most senior photog here in this forum never buy 3rd party battery.

you might have accidentally scratched your focusing screen while doing your cleaning.

Happened to my D70.

Check if the same line is on your focusing screen.

do a search on the forum...

i think the dicussion is that 3rd party batt do not las as long as the ori in the long run.

i had a 3rd party batt when i was using d80, it sure didn't las as long as an older ori batt.

for me, i stick with the ori...

ya...if usin 3rd party batts n grip, warranty is void if anything happens...
