If I were u, I will save up and straight go to FF.
budget and purpose is an important consideration.
Generally, the lenses are more expensive as well.

If I upgrade, it would be for the dual memory card slot, higher usable iso and the bigger body for a better grip/balance. But,
Dual memory card - can do without it
Higher usable iso - get a lens with a wider aperture (not for all situations)
Bigger body - battery grip
BTW, I found out from OP that the MB-D80 has been discontinued. So whr can I get a new grip?
At that point in time, I was in a dilemma too. I know I need the FPS and mirror up mode. I only have a D90 to trade up with and D700 wasn't a 2.5k camera. Then along came a 1.4k D300s. Hence I took the plunge.
Since then, I've been converting my lens to FX based. I'm ready to add a FX as my main (if the price is right) and my D300s as my backup.

Got mine 'used' also... used as in buy already never use...![]()

For sure, d7000 body is Not very good in gripping. Even a canon 60d is much better.

What kind of line? Any form of illustration?
If it's from focal point to side of screen, Nope. It's not a malfunction. Don't worry. In fact, you can try shift the focal point. You'll see that the line shifts with your focal point.
