D90 User Group (V)

I have been using it quite frequently and in love with it... however i find the contrast procduce is rather weak. I need to pp to get better contrast for the pics. Do you guys face the same problem or due to my lousy skills:embrass: Sometimes I will also increase the WB value to get a warmer tone. Any guru here can advise on this? Any tips on how to get better color? Btw I find D7000(from my friend) give much better contrast.

If you shoot in JPG, you can try to tweak the picture control settings in the menu.
If you shoot in RAW (NEF), hmmmmm  maybe the new gen of sensors in D7000 produces more contrasty images. Haven't done any side-by-side to compare.

Have u tried turning the D-lighting off?

I shoot in jpeg, same as my friend using D7000, his pics is better in contrast...

It could be the picture control settings then. You might want to compare urs to ur friend's settings.
In fact, If you know how to, u are better off shooting in RAW and adjust the contrast urself on a computer.

Menu>shooting menu>manage picture control> right arrow key 3 times
You have off the active d lighting first before you can adjust the contrast.

Errr... So... you both shoot in JPG means the output should be the same?

I could probably tweak my JPG settings so as to produce at least 100 photos with same scene but different result :)

Just got myself a D90 Kit with few accessories @ $1400

1) D90 18-105 VR Kit
2) ML-L3 Remote Controller
3) SL1200 Tripod
4) SanDisk 8GB SDHC Card
5) Raydawn UV 67mm Filter
6) Lowepro - Adventura 170 Camera Bag
7) Samurai Dry-Pak Case F580
8) Silica Gel

Wondering if it is a reasonable price paid by my wife or too ex?

No point to think too much about whether or not you paid a good price, AFTER making the purchase! ;)
Go spend the time learning more about your camera and getting up to speed.
If you have any questions, there's a high chance it has been asked before in this thread, so do spend the time browsing through it.

I upgraded to D300s....

If I were u, I will save up and straight go to FF.

Everyone has their own feeling and thinking... ts may feel that it is useful for him to have D300s at this point of time and he can move to ff when he is ready.
