D90 User Group (V)

At that point in time, I was in a dilemma too. I know I need the FPS and mirror up mode. I only have a D90 to trade up with and D700 wasn't a 2.5k camera. Then along came a 1.4k D300s. Hence I took the plunge.

Since then, I've been converting my lens to FX based. I'm ready to add a FX as my main (if the price is right) and my D300s as my backup.

HI ..
Is it a better idea to upgrade my D90 to D7000
what difference gonna make on my pics....

First of all, why do you think you need a D7000? Changing cameras will not improve shots drastically. Dynamic range may be better, features may be better, but ultimately, it's the person behind the viewfinder that makes the most difference. :):)

firstly, ask yourself WHY u want to upgrade to D7000? is your D90 limiting ur photography in any way? if u can answer this truthfully (rather than justify by saying it has more megapixels or something), then u'll know if upgrading will make a difference in your pics.
secondly, do some research on the differences between D90 and D7000, and decide if u really need those features to warrant an upgrade.
third, i would rather suggest saving the money on body upgrade in favor of other purchases like lenses, speedlights, classes/lessons or accessories. camera makers churn out new camera bodies every year, making body upgrades quite expensive if done regularly.

If I am getting D7000 in place of D90, it will be for the good usable high iso. For the moment, shooting mostly landscape, it will be somewhat of a white elephant to upgrade.

If I upgrade, it would be for the dual memory card slot, higher usable iso and the bigger body for a better grip/balance. But,

Dual memory card - can do without it
Higher usable iso - get a lens with a wider aperture (not for all situations)
Bigger body - battery grip

:)

BTW, I found out from OP that the MB-D80 has been discontinued. So whr can I get a new grip?

Get it used lah bro, no point getting new. At one time Challenger clearing stock like mad and selling for like 100 + - 20 bucks.. can't remember...

Got mine 'used' also... used as in buy already never use... ;)

For sure, d7000 body is Not very good in gripping. Even a canon 60d is much better.

I'd have to disagree with you there.
In the end it's all subjective. Different users prefer different ergonomics.
There's a size available for everyone! :)

What kind of line? Any form of illustration?

If it's from focal point to side of screen, Nope. It's not a malfunction. Don't worry. In fact, you can try shift the focal point. You'll see that the line shifts with your focal point.

I'm not so sure abt tt. For one, I have negative impressions on their ergonomics for my hands. Tried their grips once and it wasn't comfortable at all.

I don't think it's necessary. I myself didn't notice it till someone mentioned it. :)
