Okayz... I take it back... your sunlight chasing day is confirmed over... :bsmilie:

But on the way back from Thomson area, i saw the sky has cleared up nicely. Very majestic now. I bet it's going to be a glorious sunset! ;)

So the day's still young afterall, eh? ;)

So if we do use Lo, do we need to compensate by underexposing? :dunno:
when i read the review of the D90, what I gather is that when you set it to any of the Lo. values, the camera basically captures the image at its base ISO (200), then applies PP (like curves/levels in photoshop) to bring down the exposure value. That's how you get a reduction in dynamic range.
So I think if the 1 stop of ISO matters to you, buy an ND filter with 1 more stop of strength (eg. 3 stop instead of 2 stop) and shoot at ISO200! :)

I feel something is not right here... 2 stops??... 3 stops??... Naaaaaaaaaawwwwwww..... 10 stops, pleaze!

Just so you all know, it's not really "more stops is better" with regards to ND filters.
Sometimes 2stop ND is the one that's required :)

10 stops FTW!! Haha

I'm going to keep my ND4. Got sentimental value as my first ND filter. Haha.

I'm new, so please enlighten me... when would you use 2stop NDs?... :D

when you need to drag the shutter speed by just that little bit, but not necessary to be too long.
e.g. a waterfall with people around.
For example at base ISO and f/11, your meter says 1/20s. So with something like 3-stop ND, you're down to about 1/2s, which is enough to smoothen the water, yet leave the people sharp enough (hopefully they don't move around much in 1/2s).

So smaller NDs is good for rushing water (like the Merlion) plus people around? Thanks! I've learnt something new for sure!

Thats informative. Didnt know this. But in this case if you have more stops, wouldnt it be better since you can drag the exposure longer in order to achieve a smoother water surface?

ZCA said with people in there! That is the CRUX. If you put too much NDs in front, the peeps will end up like ghosts! Tell me whether your Ah-mah or Ah gong can hold VERY still for 3, 4, 5, 6 seconds... :bsmilie: Plus with GUSHING water like water fall, you don't need longer NDs to make them smooth.... I think. 10 stop NDs are good for general water shots...but you can't use them for putting people in there...

Haha. I think jeezuin missed out the crucial part. Thanks ZCA for bringing up the example. Makes it easier to visualise.

Yeah, ZCA's example is really good! But having known that, I don't think I'll get lower stop NDs for the moment, 10 NDs more crucial! :bsmilie: (read - hotcakes!)

Note: that's just me, not saying 2/3 NDs no use, maybe later... but for the moment, longer shutter delays are topper priority.

Agree! Now have to wait for abt a month! Hope it comes soon

sgcamerastore lor. Still got other MO? I thought you're in the queue for Big Stopper?

Chiu jior... thinking of getting the ND110 as well... :bsmilie: I think at least two queues going on right now...

I'm thinking the 9-10 stop NDs would only be useful in places with moving water so unless you take a lot of beach shots and/or the CBD, there's not many instances to put it to good use? Oh yes, also if you want to capture moving clouds... Hence maybe the Lee filter system would be more versatile. I'm just thiking aloud.
