Hi Isisaxon,
Sorry just saw your reply. You mean I should get the d90 kits instead of only the body? and what is "DX crop body"?. 28mm on DX will only give you an angle of view like a 42mm on 135 format. Argh!! I am planning to get the d90 tomorrow but now should I get body only or the kits set??
Btw, called Lords today the Saleslady quoted me d90 body for S$1380/= (with 4GB card) after GST. And the d90 kits set their new stock come in is not with 18mm-105mm VR. It come with 18mm - 55mm lens or 56mm - 200mm lens and she also mentioned that there will also the same in the SITEX for the kits set. :what:
hmmmm, interesting to note that the D90 is no longer sold as a kit with the 18-105VR lens?
what a pity...
you don't know what is a DX crop body?
Well, the D90 has a sensor which is approximately 24mm x 16mm. This is smaller than the size of 35mm film, and this size (24x16) is commonly referred to as DX. 35mm film size is now more commonly known as FX, or sometimes people refer to it as 'full-frame'.
DX cameras:
D40, D50, D60, D70, D80, D90, D200, D300 (there are many more. I'm just including the more recent ones)
FX cameras:
D700, D3
What the DX sensor captures is a fraction of the image produced by the lens.
Imagine walking around with a piece of cardboard in front of your eyes, with a rectangular cut-out. The larger the cut-out 'window', the more you see.
Therefore with a DX body and a 28mm lens, you see only the central area, much like you would if a 42mm lens was mounted on an FX body.
Hope I haven't confused you too much.
Try your best to get the D90 kit with 18-105VR lens, but best to avoid buying at SITEX.
If die-die don't have the kit lens, get body only, and search for 18-70 (D70's kit lens) either new or 2nd hand.
