D800E User Thread

Can any of the guru post more night shot photo taken by D800E

For the time being have a look at the D800 thread for some recent night shots. The E version shouldn't be any different.

Wao, the 3D and high color contrast effect on the pictures. :D

Some quick makeshift studio shots. D800E, 24-70 F2.8, 2x SB900
No clothes = no moire issues :P (I did encounter one shot with slight color moire from that session)
Sorry, no female models .... yet

No not mine. i did a walkabout and shot other people's possessions. I don't mind having the Vespa or the Audi for that matter

By the way the crop of the buoy is near the top of the pic.

Looks like taken somewhere near Melbourne?

Clubsnappers,

Just a short note to let you all know that Nikon Singapore has the tools to fix the focus issue (oof) that affects the far left AF point(s) that may arise on some D800/E bodies. According to the technician, it was a software calibration. Just got mine back yesterday and it has been calibrated. Did AF fine tuning on my AFS 24mm f1.4G before doing some test. Tested with Siemens Star Chart on far left, centre and far right using TTL (PDAF) focusing vs Live View. They all look similar now. Prior to this, the left TTL focus was oof vs Live View focus. If possible, test with AFS 24mm f1.4 if you have or can get hold of one.

Do submit the TTL vs Live View focus samples to illustrate the "issue" to Nikon Sg - it helps... FYI in case your body is affected. Have a good weekend.

Shot with D800E and 16-35 f/4 VR lens. Two shots merged with CS 5.5. This is bending the truth a bit as the helicopters passed a minute before the jets made their appearance.

how long did NSC have your camera in for the servicing?

I had the opportunity to test out Matt Granger (thatnikonguy)'s D800E, and the camera does indeed live up to the reviews. I'm particularly impressed with the low-light AF performance, especially since the shots were taken with an old, screw-driven, 85mm 1.4D. Now I can't wait to get my hands on one for good!

The following samples are shot at f/1.4 at ISO 800, opened up in PS and converted to Jpeg and resized. No other editing was done.

Nikon Sg stated 2 weeks when I send in but I got my camera back in 3 days. Thumbs up to Nikon on this one. AF fine tune 24/1.4G with lens align - now PDAF vs CDAF (LV) for extreme left, centre and extreme right af focus points all looks exactly the same now. Random test on all other focus points are all good too. Problem resolved :)

I sent my D800E in too. SN 8000XXX. NSC took only 2 days. I haven't collected it yet but am giving them credit for dealing with this issue professionally and expediently.
