I don't think it's possible that Nikon will launch a successor to the D700 range so soon after they launched the D700. that would kinda kill their own product.... it doesn't make sense, from a marketing point of view.

Clearly the Dnnn range is inferior to the Dn range of cameras.

Calm down and think with your heads! The take-home word for today is Photoshop!

besides build, think d300 not inferior to d1, d2, ...

wow D800 is that true

wow! :)
anyway my only reason for upgrading is to try to keep my investments. if every camera i buy i lose $400 means i can roughly own 6-7 brand new model cameras by the time i reach $3k.. don't think so much about the technology la. 10mpx,11,12,13,14,15.. ;) just take care of your money and your health.

wow D800 it hat true

Almost everything you buy also depreciates. I think alot of ppl around here and overseas have this hobby called "Latest & Greatest". What happened to photography....it's an art form not numbers.

If you see your cameras as investments then I think you're in a losing investment unless you sell your photos.

Penny-wise but pound-foolish.

Human's desire never ends.
Human's greed helps to advance camera's technology too.
If there is a need, Cam manufacturers will go all out to satisfy human's hunger. So I think Nikon will definately do something to upgrade their D700, if not, they will loose the D700 market shares to their" Snow white "competitor.(They better act fast:bsmilie:)

it's photoshoped, look at it carefully, the front view is smaller than the back view ;P

do you know that this is a thread from oct 2008?

No offence, never did mention that people around here are lousy photographers.

I'm just not part of the latest & greatest mentality but more towards the artistic side of photography.

I have to say I like the model number D800 though. Sounds nice.
