Anyone ever test D800 and use Yong Nuo 560 flash as slave for strobist? I've tested mine yesterday but seems it didn't work well with YN 560 :( Any advice?

Could u give us more details abt why not well? YN560 is a manual flash, you can hardly go wrong unless you cannot even trigger it from hotshoe.

Ok so here is the symptom. I use D800 with SB900 on shoe as TTL and put YN560 as s1 (slave) at left side without any umbrella to test shoot. I test couple of shot and see YN560 is flashing without any problem. So I do the real shot, I can feel YN is flashing but in the picture after the shot it doesn't flashing. I do another test, this time I shot directly to the YN-560 to check, And yes again I can feel it's flashing but in the picture is not.
Confused all day. Anyone ever encounter this?

If the sb-900 is set to ttl, that means it will be firing a series of preflash as part of the ttl sequence. These preflashes may be setting the YN off before the actual picture is taken.

You will need set the YN to mode S2, which is a slave mode which supposedly ignores the ttl preflash.

Don't expect it to work all the time though, optical triggering is not really reliable in general.

I see, thanks. will try and test it again :)

Also check ur shutter speed, you might had accidentally went beyond sync speed (1/250?) in which your YN will not be able to keep up.

I've check the shutter speed and it's roughly around 1/100 or 1/120

Anyone can advice which flash trigger remote that compatible with D800? any brand and price if can describe?
Thanks

I wish Nikonians would refrain from using the term Trinity to refer to lenses ...... adopt some other terms instead. :)

Well... this world means different things put into different context. In religion (God).. in movies (Sexy gal).. and in general (a group of three). Can help me specifically to understand why "Nikonians" cannot use?

Anyway.. other suggestions.. could be the F1.8 Prime Trio? Dynamic F1.8 Trio? Fantastic Three? Cheapo Trio?.. I think moving out of topic liao..

Would like to check with you guys whether will it take long to open a raw file for editing in either lightroom or photoshop? Lets say on a laptop with just a i-core 3 with 6GB ram...

In case any of you are unaware, the firmware update for D800 and D800E was available on 29th May 2012.

Unfortunately didn't seem to indicate fixing the problem where it takes super long to save a pic at times...

https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/52748

Updates

* When a still image was captured while viewing existing images in playback mode, the monitor turned off, the memory card access lamp glowed steadily, and, in some rare cases, the camera ceased to respond to operations. This issue has been resolved.

* When the Wireless Transmitter WT-4 was used with certain settings applied, RAW images were also transferred when Wireless transmitter>Transfer settings>Send file as was set to JPEG only. This issue has been resolved.

* A dark shadow sometimes appeared at the bottom edge of images captured with Active D-Lighting set to any option other than Off with Image area set to 5:4 (30x24). This issue has been resolved.

The takes super long save a pic, is not due to memory card?

Cause I had found my SD is happen on supper long save a picture, once I change to CF and no more the issue...

But at that time is the hot weather.. :(

Yes happened on SD card sometimes even when I am shooting slowly. No problem with same card on D80. Happened at night also... so its not due to heat.
