200mm F/2.8 won't be much cheaper than F/2. Maybe F/4?

You sure? The 200mm f/2 costs much more than the 70-200mm f2.8. I can assume any 200mm f/2.8 will cost less than the zoom. The price difference is very wide.

I believed this 200mm f/2.8G VR2 can replace the 180mm AFD prime.
The price definitely cheaper than 70-200mm zoom.

Even so, I would believe 200mm F/2.8 with the SWM, VR, nano crystals and the whole nine yard included, won't be much cheaper than 70-200mm F/2.8. It's not a bad thing to have but, without much consideration of distortions on zoom lenses, I feel it makes more sense to pay a little more for the zoom.

And to rain whom I comment this initially, there will be a lot more technologies included in the proposed 200mm F/2.8 compared to the 180mm AF-D..

The VR and AF-S will still be the culprit that weighs you down. But should be lighter than 70-200mm vr2

I sold my 28-300mm. To get this 24-120mm at 1620.

For me i do not need the 300mm as I have sigma 150-500mm. For N just go buy the b+w uv Pro with the N.
