Sharing my 75mb Raw file opening speed in MacBook Air.

The advantage of SSD speed! Way to go, MacBook Air!

anyone with an imac that has ssd? can test how fast to open if file is saved on the 1TB drive?

i use a 2-year old dell with 8gb ram and the handling of d800 raw files -- well, let's just say i don't notice the drop in speed as compared to the d700 all that much, unless you're stiching 10 frames or something.

I already seen a significant drop in speed loading up albums in LR4 when loading those of D800 compare to D700. I'm already on 24GB RAM and this still happens.. Dunno what can I do to speed up short of transfer all my work on SSD...

Wow! 24 GB RAM. Mine is maxed out at 8GB (running i5 750). It is definitely struggling to handle the big files. The " high memory usage" message keeps popping out :hammer:

Wow. Nikon should make a combo deal = D800 + i7 laptop

Just wanna ask, does the left AF issue affects any users here? The more i read about it on DPreview, the more hesitant i become in wanting the D800.
Does this only affect the D800 or both D800/E? I don't mind spending that little bit of extra once the supply stabilises to get a proper working camera. I have already sold all my DX gear.

Hi. I got mine last few week time and test some of my lenses and don't have any problem for back focus issue, even used in DX lenses.

Hi, thanks for reporting, that is very assuring to hear.

increase the page file size to help increase memory.

store your albums in RAID 0 or RAID 1+0 setups; get a pcie SSD drive ... YMMV ;)

for detailed advice from Adobe about Lightroom performance optimization, can refer to this...

if you're talking about Cowseye's case, at 24GB RAM, very much doubt that lack of RAM is the bottleneck... it's probably down to drive access speed :)

Initially, I thought my D800 has the left AF issue. After performing AF fine tuning (at -8), my D800 seems to be able to focus well for all the AF points.

Thanks man :D

Did you fine tune for all lenses? Seems strange as most on DPreview had lots of back focusing issues, and other weird stuff. Seems like most sg sets are doing well.

Yes. Interestingly all at -8.
