BTW, do you observe any AF issues (e.g. not able to focus well with the left most AF points)?

Can anyone comment if they've gotten their D800 fixed by Nikon service centre already? I'm about to head down but don't want to make a wasted trip just to get told they're waiting for an official fix.

i went on monday, they said they still didn't know if it was a firmware or hardware issue.
however i just read dpreview, maybe ill give them a call tmr. You should too!

Thanks for the info. I just saw a post on Ming's blog about someone in Europe getting their D800 fixed. It looks like his focus with the left AF point and 24mm f/1.4g are spot on.

Oddly enough I've been able to nail focus with my 14-24 (at 14mm) and left-most point on certain objects with very high contrast (e.g. direct sunlight on a door handle, mobile phone screen) but it definitely can't lock on reliably.

I think you can help the community (or maybe urself only) if you could bring down ur set to Nikon sg and show them ur findings. It might be the big issue or might be an isolated case, but since nikon sg couldnt replicate the problem, the only way we can help is to show them. I thank you in advance for your efforts :)

I guess in some sense there's still some AF bug in there. And i've had af problems with my 85 1.4G lately, never did the first few weeks i had the camera. It's backfocusing a bit randomly. I thought it was user error but nope, plus i did toggle with the AF options to try to get around it. Left side pictures would also be a tad soft. I think i'll wait to bring it in and maybe the fix for the AF would settle everything.

It appears that the D800s are flooding in now, maybe nikon fixed the AF thing and let the new batches come out corrected. 30k a month? maybe

Flooding in? I can't find one is any regular Funan shop :(

people have been getting theirs at courts, and on dpreview some guys have been getting calls that they have a few bodies waiting for them after they ordered from various stores.

not tested the left point, but so far on 2 old lenses i do not have problems with focus. Will try it this afternoon during lunch

Hope the new batch will solve the AF problem !
I already sold my D700 1 mth and now hand so ithcy !!!
BTW anyone can share how much you bought the D800 ??

Typo error ???

Nope, it was that cheap in the beginning... Then the price gone viral...

Btw, I just made a trip down to NSC. Took the chance to try their 24mm F/1.4 on D800, I did not face any front or back focusing problem at all at the left, center or right group of AF points. And as usual, the bokeh of the 24mm is as superb as ever :)

woehoe ! got my camera back,
look at the result, apparently they can calibrate each individual focus point,
this is so much cleaner (these are shot at F1.4 both in the far corners)

As I read on, I realised that there are still quite a number who did not manage to get their issues fixed. Seems like different country handled this issue differently.

I assumed that some countries are just waiting for a official fix from headquarters and some countries took it further by fixing it themselves? Just my assumption.
