woah...i'll just wait till it comes out in singapore, then maybe wait a few more months for prices to fall...

Hmmmm.... seems like fine time to upgrade my D5....

All the improvements that they promise is fine and dandy, PROVIDED they fix the overheating "err" problem. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but this is my major bugbear with my 7Hi. You've composed the shot, focused, and just as you're about to trip the shutter...

the viewfinder goes blank.

Camera reboots itself. You've lost about 10 seconds.

You could have a 6-500mm f/1.0 constant-aperture stabilised zoom lens and a 5" 75-megapixel CCD, but it's of little use if the camera keeps blinking out on critical moments!

#@$*&^!!!!

Honestly I've yet to hit this "err" problem. *cross fingers*

What I have hit before is:
Set manual settings to an impossible combination of aperture and shutter speed such that screen will turn out black. Wait for a few seconds, the camera will move back to a normal combination.

This is documented in the manual - I just saw it the other day.

Probably what you have hit is a manifestation of this feature gone mad.

synapseman, go get the camera fixed before warranty ends!!!
I had mine fixed, it became worse and worse, in the end I could always get it to show err on command (by zooming past 150mm). In begining it was like yours, err when trying to take shoot sometimes.

For ME it was not heat!
I could have it in aircon room for 24h and still get problem on first picture, or use it outside for 2h camera beeing very hot and not get problem.

I fixed mine and they changed something, after that no problem!
if your camera is like mine it will get worse and worse, fix it NOW!

Anyone has any idea when it will available in Singapore and price?

Just called CP, but not available yet.

Yup, can some kind soul please do let us know when the A1 is finally released in Singapore. I too paiseh to call Cathay Photo, Alan Photo every now and then to ask if it is in yet. I emailed Minolta Singapore too, when I found that www.minolta.com.sg listed the A1 already. But Andy Lee replied me it's not in yet.

Can't wait to buy it :)

still waiting for DSLR. well... at least A1 must surface first before DSLR right.

So A1 come come quick quick...

I can't believe it! I called Minolta camera showroom at Funan and a guy there said the A1 will only arrive in Singapore in about 2 month's time. Hey it's already selling in Europe now, but we here in Singapore still need to wait two months! Even Canon 300d is already available. So disappointed, sigh! Two months more, I might as well wait for the Minolta DSLR to appear haha..

Are you sure its $2500 and not $1500? If its really $2500, I think I will be better off with a 300D leh...
