Drooling ard.. but still loving my D700.. :lovegrin:

Don't drool, how many of us actually utilize 100% of the potential of our equipment? D700 will be more than enough for me for a long time to come.

Who cares about shooting video with DSLR, I've got a HD videocam for that purpose.

Look, my car can run up to 180 km/h(according to spec), but I have never even push it to 140 km/h.

Of course it's just me.:embrass:

Now only depends on the price point.
D3X is so expensive while D3s got lesser MP but higher ISO performance at lesser price.
If D900 take price benchmark from D3X, then D3s will be more feasible.
But if thats the situation, then I rather stay put with a D700

I also dun care about the video-shooting in D700s (in fact I hope it dun have it)

Nikon has been fairly consistent with their naming for each generation - switching between odd and even numbers

1st gen... D1, D1h, D1x, D100, D70, D50

2nd gen... D2h, D2x, D200, D80, D40, D60

3rd gen... D3, D3X, D300, D700, D90, D3000... D900

you forgot D5000 before D3000.

Hehe... if you're thinking of mirrorless interchangeable lens camera Alex - it's coming, but I hear that Nikon is not announcing everything in Feb. I'm getting hints that next week's announcement is the surprise I mentioned earlier - have no idea what it is. D900 maybe in March. mirrorless a month or two after that (new sensor size - smaller than DX for mirrorless) D90 replacement in August. D700s later in the year.

Only 1 week for nikon announcement. Perhaps the surprise is a large sensor Coolpix (non-interchangeable lens) - might be true, could tie in with the rumours floating around that the Leica X1 was actually a licensed Nikon design (and reason why Leica had mentioned that sensor in X1 is being used by Nikon in a similar camera)

Yeah, you should buy yourself some new toys - think there are a few options this year.

They will probably throw in the D3s sensor, that will make upgrade mandatory for those chasing after high ISO/low noise performance.

hmmm, using it to shoot video with a good lens will be like working out in a gym.:sweat:
anyhow, i like the idea, so that i won't up grade & save $$$ too.

Yes very true.... who cares about the video function and what not.... they can disable it, sell me at S$2000 I will camp at the shop to buy it.... :lovegrin:

i for one am hoping 700s will have video + improved iso performance. reduced mp is okay. i guess different pple has different wishes.
