D7000 users (Part 4)

I had this oil problem couple of months ago, brought it to NSC and they replace the mirror mechanism which I'm not really sure which part exactly.
Have taken about 5000+ shots since and haven't seen any oil spots till now.

according to our neighboring forum... it's the mirror's mechanism that cause the oily... they said the mechanism got too much oil that is why it will splat down to the sensor.

BTW sorry for the wrong quotes the reply with quote seems to be confusing for me. the grey menus seems like it's for the below post.

Guys, got a noob query, please bear with me..

The ViewNX2 editor that comes free with the camera, is there a noise reduction function in it? I have been using other editing software all these while, so now when trying to explore this software, I don't seem to be able to find it. Is it omitted from the software??

That software only allow you to view from RAW an can't to save.
If you can pay for money, yes all the function you can edit from Raw files as well.

Sound like got correct reason to changed :)

thanks for the suggestion! would it be possible if you can provide me with the link to where you purchase your lens pen? Maybe in the future I will do it on my own since my warranty has expired last week :)

Lenspen can get from most of the shops listed. If I'm correct, Cathay Photo is the exclusive distributor for Singapore.

Auto Power-Off

Is there such a setting ? Although meters stop after 6 sec of idle time, camera stays on.

Thank you

Oops just found an only can setting in the shooting menu, not like D800 can easily dial the front dial button..

Go to Shooting mode, ISO sensitivity settings, Auto ISO sensitivity control, switch to ON.

Or you can use the U1 and U2 settings.

Hi fellow D7000 users, just being curious, what is the highest ISO setting you guys are comfortable with? I ask this because although D7000 is known for its high ISO performance, somehow anything higher than 1600 is uncomfortable for me. I wasn't sure if this is a personal preference thing or hardware/software problem. Your experience will be invaluable, Thanks :)

personally, i tend not to go beyond iso1600 too. I'm a pixel peeper, and i find that once i go higher, i see noise. :p

1600, night shooter or indoors mostly

I've shot all the way till 6400 iso. The photo was fine for what I wanted. Otherwise, I'm fine with the output till 3200.

If u shoot RAW and do noise reduction in PP, I will say 3200 is still acceptable. Nowadays NR software are pretty good.

Noise from 3200 - 4000 is quite Acceptable too.
Especially shots in street walk.
Just one thing may shots with Raw after can slightly adjusted on NX capture.

I make do with ISO 400 to ISO 1600 most of the time. Rarely do I go over it, but if I have to get as high as ISO 6400, I'll be there.

Noise doesn't bother me that much, particularly if they are casual shots.

Ahh.. I see :) thanks so much for all of your sharing! I guess I was having the unrealistic expectation that a 'high iso performance DSLR' = can shoot at 6400 and the image is still clean :P and when i shoot at 1600 i was like, 'hey... Its still quite noisy leh!' Guess my D7000 is working normally then! Thanks again!
