Hi samueltan99,

Any chance of having a similar group buy for the Nikon D5100 when it is available here in Singapore ?

Thanks !

;p:thumbsup:

Bro I think you rather grab D7000 than D5100 since D7000 is higher range than D5100.

Don't get me wrong. The biggest carrot head was the 5% standard chartered. returned my $115 bucks. so effectively the other things only sold for $319. very easy since according to my quote, I supposedly only kept the nikon travel bag. so dry cabi ($120) prime ($180ish) 8gbcard ($15) handstrap ($20) kata bag ($80) filters ($40) umbrella ($10) cleaning kit ($5) + cashback ($115) I effectively saved $585 bucks. These prices stated are very realistic prices that have been successfully used to sell the products. Of course its all approximate and I did not chop any carrots by overpricing anything. $2299-$585 = $1714 (kit lens set + nikon travel bag +1x8gb sandisk card). These are nothing special, just the product of careful planning and grabbing the opportunity of the IT fair deal which you first claimed was bad, so I felt that I needed to correct you because the actual fact is, although trouble has to be made to sell off the extra useless freebies (just like how nikon brace bag is useless), I am definitely proving that IT fair deal was a way better deal, even for an experienced photographer who wants things cheap. Do tell me if you spot any carrot chopping in my prices.

50mm prime - $180
Dry cabi - $120
and bla bla bla.......

Wow, u are indeed a great seller! I had so much trouble selling my brand new 18-105mm for a mere $300. Not really worth the effort i must say.

Anyway, the 5% rebate by stand chart is called Manhattan card. U would need to spend $3000 in a single statement to qualify for that. It's the best cash rebate card available here in sgp. That said, it's NOT a direct rebate. You still need to spend $701 to hit the $3000. Banks are no idiot, if they can provide this rebate, they can get back at least twice of this amount but let's not get into that.

Guys, no point talking about it. If one think he got a good deal, why bother? Take out D7000 and shoot more lar. :)

He don't earn a single cent doing this huge amount of effort organising a GB. I certainly hope he gets VIP treatment over there after this though. Maybe you would like to do it on a new D5100 thread.

Ppl needs to see the whole picture. He had indeed save $115 overall with all the selling and sourcing for buyers. It's a great thing for him.

But without knowing these, would ppl understand the hassle if he didn't share his experience. He's lucky I must say. Imagine if everyone buy and sell freebies like the way he do, how many can make actual sales. There will be so many 50mm, bags and other accessories flooded into BnS. Eventually they will be forced to under cut each other to make sale. Considering all these. Buying from IT show still does not make sense.

hi, just got the d7000, may i ask how to make the video i take to be able to play in ipad? Down load the video into my ipad via cam kits but cannot play le? any software (free) for convertion?

also the max time for d7000 video only 20 min?

thanks

Not sure of the conversion but yes, The video clip should have this limitation of timeframe. Dunno y is it so, maybe it's the buffer size. D90 can only shoot 5min a clip.

More of overheat issues as I have read.

Several things to note:
1. Not trying to contradict your statement. I was just trying to prove that with the proper research and homework and manipulating existing resources, I can make the IT deal I got much better than the regular deal that most people here would have gotten.
2. It is true that it will be a hassle to sell every freebie I agree with you, that's why I feel that the deal is good for people who actually want the dry cabi/bag/prime etc. Because ultimately you are paying less for it than if you buy only a kit, and you buy the rest at a non-discounted price (you will lose out overall).
3. It is really not difficult to sell the accessories at all, after the fair, demand will surge as people start looking out for cheap brand new primes/cabi. It's a win-win situation. Demand will surge to counter the increase in supply. Equilibrium may possibly still remain the same.
4. Thank you Enjoy for pointing it out. He is right I used the best single rebate card in town. $3k is a daunting figure to accumulate. But the thing is you don't have to do it yourself. Just pair up with a friend and both of you guys can earn 5% off everything u guys buy all with a same card. $701 is really not difficult at all during a fair.
5. It is true that most people will not see the big picture behind the good price I got, but it is not difficult to do it. And please do not attribute it to luck. There was no element of luck in my course of actions.
6. All in all, I am just sharing how you can get a mega good deal at the IT fair. $1.7k or cheaper for kit lens set.

I think we both had state our points and I think all audiences understand where we are coming from. Congrats on your cheaper kit set. :)

Since the D7000 lens zooms in and out focusing continuosuly in video shoot does it "damage" the servo of the lens in long-term use ????

I think NIKON lens are not made for continuous and extended focusing in and out

Maybe fix a 18-55mm lens and then spolit nevermind

Here what going through my mind. You are doing shuttle run while taking yourself with D7000. AF-F follows you focusing back and forth non-stop. How long do you think it will take before the motor dies? Haha, sorry to crack a joke on you. I trust the quality of lens. The electronics will probably die faster before the wear and tear of the focusing motor.

guys sorry for bringing up this qns again but would a class 6 mem card suffice for D7000 or its safer to go class 10. My friend was telling me not taking video Class 6 more than enough.

Download Aleesoft Free iPad Video Converter

Not sure if I'm wrong. But i read somewhere that the D7000 video is limited to 20mins or 4GB size equivalent due to the FAT32 limitation in the memory card.
(Pls kindly correct me if i am wrong thx)

I went Class 10 cos it was pretty cheap. Not much price difference from Class 6.
My 16gb Sandisk Extreme (30MB/s) cost S$67 with free lenspen @ IT Show. Tempting for me to skip and go Class 10 directly.

he is perhaps limited by his budget?

Yep ! You are right.

My friend is limited by his budget and he also likes the articulated LCD display of the Nikon D5100..

I guess samueltan99 is exhausted from the last GB. LOL !

I guess we can start a new thread for D5100. I think it is available by 21st April.

;p:thumbsup:
