hey guys, just checking... hmmm i just simply asked the body price in two shops in chinatown, incld the gst they were at $1800 smt
and then i back to malaysia and the price was just rm3500 at average, which at about $1400+, thats big different
i asked the shop that does where the camera made in an issue (i assume perhaps singapores' made in japan)?
he told me that even singapores' are made in thailand
so.... can you guys tell me about this issue?
well, i bought it in malaysia...![]()
One of my friend's Dad found a store overseas selling D700 w/ grip for USD800, D300s w/ 18-200mm for USD600. They're both second hand though, but it was leftovers from a mass purchase, so it's not touched yet

if i didn't remember wrongly, D lighting turns the background clearer (in a landscape photo), but it also does something to the foreground which i don't really like. can't remember but there's a good example on the D60 model. too bad i sold mine though XD and do bear in mind that turning D-lighting on means more time required to process the image

daredevil123 said:probably factory reconditioned cameras. That means, units returned to seller, or repaired by SC. Tons of these these in USA due to the return policy in USA. Problem is prices sounds too low. Might be scams or cameras in bad condition or just a lousy pawn shop. Might also be a public auction due to bankruptcy or seizure.

D-lighting just boost the light levels in the shadows. that's all. It will try to balance the dark and bright parts of the picture to give a more balanced output... nothing to make thing "clearer" or do anything to the foreground.

Well, these are not silly mistakes. As the the true sources of these cameras are hidden from buyers. And most professionals know phototaking and business of selling services and photos well, but know next to nothing about the business of equipment and equipment. No offense. Really takes people in the know to know the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Nothing wrong with those cameras actually. Some are new (especially seized items). But to think that these cameras are available in abundance, is just fooling yourself.
seezhijie said:i never said it was in abundance >.> i just know how they came, according to them of course. his Dad already bought a CAnon 5D Mk2, though i forgot the price. seems okay
You can also get these deals in SG as well if you go auction hunting. I remember someone paid a couple of hundred for a 50d sometime last year. You can find deals if you are patient and know where to look.
