D7000 Discussion Thread III

When I first test the camera I saw the 39 points squares. After testing and playing with the settings, now I end up like you one square only.

I could not get back to the oringal setting. Feel like to reset everything.

Read ur manual... They package it in ur box for a reason.

Basically u will see the 39AF points in action if u use matrix af or continous focusing mode... If using single af, then of cos can only see 1 focus point. But in single af, the 1 focus point should be able to cycle through all the 39 focus location.

I just did a comparison of 3 cameras - D7000 vs D90 and Canon 7D.
All set to AWB. ISO 800, 3200 and 6400.
In for a surprise!

I wish to put up for everyone to view.

Pls advise me how to upload a photo here?

i've read the manual for days but couldn't find it.......ur 39 points all are visible in view finder if using matrix and continous focus? i need to press the button at the af/mf to show 39 pts, once release the button, it's gone.

Try to adjust and press a few times on your lens release button. I think it is a common issue that we discussed previously. The sensor under the lens release button is too sensitive, or it is another qc issue.

Ur camera will not autofocus when u see only one point in the center right?

To activate the focus point you need to half press the shutter button, and the AF will goes to sleep mode after few secs you release the shutter. (you can set the duration before sleep mode). In Matrix mode, the AF will identify the location to AF, and not all 39points will be AF. Only some selective points will be AF, depends on the camera decision. You will hardly get 39 points in AF all at the same time.

What I can say is that your camera is fine, just play around with it more...

Cheers.

Here it is:
Comparing Nikon D7000, D90 and 7D in the office. Our office uses warm florescent lamp. Not Cool white lamp. (take note)
AWB, ISO 800, 3200 and 6400.

So which do you prefer?

The D90 ISO standard looks quite similar to the D300 I am using... I think the D7000 is a great improvement. AWB is also pretty accurate. for D7000, 7D looks more cool white than warm florescent lamp, meaning if you want to capture the mood lighting, you have to set manual white balance. whereby D7000 you can leave it in AWB.

That's what I think too. The AWB is accurate.
So far no hot pixel in my picts.

The C pict blow out the highlights. Too "pale" to my likings.

wat i mean is to make 39 points (black colour) visible even when no button is pressed. so is easier for me to scroll around the selector point which will be in red when half pressed. i'm not sure about D300s or higher end model. but nikon D60 and canon's 60D can show all its focus points bracket by default (without pressing anything).

D7000 and upward models will not show the black focusing point when no button is on, so its normal :)

previously you could see it on the D60, or other lower end models cos they come in either only 3 or 11 pts which does not really cover the whole centre portion of your frame.

In that case, then why are you trying to trade your D7000 set with a 60D set at C B&S section?

REFUND

After fighting for almost one week.
I got refund form my D7K, that suffers from focusing issue and hot pixels.
I can accept the focusing issue, but the focal point is wrong and they can not fix it.
Anyway, they agreed to change another set, but I am very disappoint and request refund.
Finally, they agree. So I will wait another half an year and see how.
So, frankly there is not winner. both sides are frustrated because the poor quality.
By the way, I will go to IPhoto again to return that D7K and get refund from them.
So I am not sure this poor set will be sold again and not.
Be careful!!!!!

ok.... just a clarification.

nikon SG does not do refund. your refund is from iPhoto cos you went to complain with them, not nikon. so if iPhoto refunds you, that iPhoto's prerogative.
