D7000 Discussion Thread III

Hi,

I have been tracking postings for the past weeks and still could not figure out where is the cheapest shop to buy D7K with kit lens and at what price. There are so many postings on technicalities which would not interest those who have yet to own a D7K. It is too chimp for me

There is a post on $1999 from HV. Can you please let me know which HV?

You can check here how much they bought there D7000 with corresponding store...hope that helps..

IMHO, it should be fine if you have the budget. The camera has scene mode as well as Auto function unless other semi pro. You can always use the auto function first while you learn the exp setting. Since you re getting your first, might as well get the latest model else you can also consider D90 or D5000. Both are excellent model too.

Okay noted~ i think i would choose either D90 or D7000~
I wanted to buy D3100, looks good but my friend with experience tell me not worth

Just bought a 50mm F1.8D in the evening :)

Took some night shot tests:
Handheld, ISO 1000-1600, 1/25s-1/100s, F2
There is one stuck hot red pixel in the upper left corner when ISO>=1000 but only obvious on LCD in certain conditions, and when zoomed in on PC.

The D7000 is my first DSLR too. I was deciding between the D90, D7000 and D300s. I find the D7000 sits nicely between the D90 and D300s in terms of pricing/features/size/weight which led me to choose it. IMHO, I think it helps to compare them and focus on those factors that you think are move relevant to you now and in the future.

Is it at bottom left corner instead? I see nothing @ upper left corner but I saw hot pixel @ lower left corner

Question to D7000 owners.

Is it difficult to get used to the "squishy" shutter button? I tried the demo set at the expo and found it difficult to do a half press, always ended up taking the shot instead.

Thanks.

i already get use to it after juz 1 day

You ask people to think before buying D7000 but you yourself will want to buy at HV... ha ha...

Anyway, D7000 is a great camera, don't worry so much as long as you are not buying from grey market...

I don't have to think, I have decided cos I trust Nikon, have been using Nikon since film days in Sec school... I wanted to buy from HV because I can pay using 0% installment plan with credit cards...

Pay cash, can only buy 1 camera, pay by installment can buy 1 camera, and many lens and accessories... keke...

The first shot was vertical so it was rotated to the bottom left corner. Yes I see it too now that you mentioned it. Good thing it's at the corner and not too obvious to me so I'm fine with it.

The first picture look like Singapore Pisa Tower but very nice... that little dot is very small... no worries...

It is there once you use high ISO or LV mode for video recording in dark places...

Port & outdoor, can use a 50mm prime AF-D around $150.
Scenery/landscape, use a UWA + tripod like tokina 11-16mm around $900.
Total cost + d7k body abt 3k. + dry cabinet/bag/accessories around $3500.

Hi all,

I am having a "Weird" problem with my D7000. I don't know whether is my lens problem or the D7000 problem. What happen is I have this Tamron 17-50mm F2.8(non VC) lens that I use with my D90 - Everything is good back then. But yesterday, I was trying the live view of D7000 with this lens and I find that it could not AF! It will try to "focus"(but failed) when I press the shutter halfway in live view mode. The lens tend to focus at one end of the focus(but not AF) and stopped(sound "Stucked"). I tried to switch the live view mode to "AF-F AF-S" and all sorts of combi with Face detect, wide, normal etc.. but still same problem - at the end after the lens struggled, the AF doesn't even move. When I switch the lens back to my D90 and try to AF in live view - NO PROBLEM.. I also tried the 18-105mm VR lens on both D90 and D7000 live views and both works fine.. could it be the problem of the tammy lens(but why no problem AF at live view with D90?) or the AF mechanism in D7000 is different? If yes, I will be quite upset as D7000 is suppose to be a better DSLR in terms of technology. So can anyone enlighten me? greatly appreciate your advises before I approach NSC.

I dont use live view for composing shots but it will be extremely useful when I need to snap a photo at an angle is too difficult to reach...

I've encountered exactly the same problem with the same lens. AF with 3rd party lens does not work in LV mode. Same thing happens to Sigma 30mm F1.4. No problem for any Nikkor lens with/without LV. No problem for any lens without LV.

Does any bro/sis here encountered the same problem with other model eg D90, D300s?

Hi, I tried my D7000 yesterday night. Apparently, I'm getting quite good result flashless and flash photos.

Tried one indoor shot with moderate lighting at iso1600 1/30 f4.8 48mm mirrored shot, no sign of hot pixel. But I do get two little hot pixel (non noticeable unless you zoom in alot), upper left of the frame during low light (dark background, close to no ambient light) outdoor shot with similar setting. Other than that, I have not exp any other including iso1600, 5sec f22 (for testing only), result = overexposed!

Guess as long as we have a little ambient light, it should be fine.

Also played with zoom flash portrait together with my sb900, excellent!! Only thing is I feel the flash unit slighted oversize to the D7000.

Overall very satisfied with the camera except the little flaw (HP) but I think we can overcome it quite easily. Hope Nikon comes with a fix soonest to complete the beauty of this beast!!! :)

Exp yourself, don't hearsay from other!!!

The 18-105mm kits lens allows you to do all that. :)

halo guys, how to check the shutter count of D7000?
