D700 user...fall in!!!

Hey guys..
Wanna ask a question regarding the D700..
If half-depressing shutter button to focus then recompose..
Is it quite troublesome ?
Coz' the 2 arrows on either side of the focus achieved green dot on the bottom left of the viewfinder seems to blink pretty much often..

PS: I've tried the camera at Nikon Singapore's showroom.
That's kinda' what I feel..

That's kinda' what I feel..

that indicated you are not in the focus ranges...you need to know minimum focus distance of the lens if using d200, now D700 have the sign to let u know are u in the focus range, set backward then get focus ,will see the AF focus dot permanent light up...correct me if i'm wrong ;p

A very good alternative to the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 which I use. It only costs about S$600 and is compact and lightweight. The photos are so good that I normally can use the photos directly from the camera without applying any further postprocessing. Here's some unedited samples :-

As for an alternative to the 14-24, the sigma 12-24 is also highly rated by other reviewers.

I thought the reviews were the other way around?

Many people use the 24-70 (aka "the Beast") as a walkaround lens as it is a marvellous standard zoom lens. Only people with a limited budget and/or who want a lighter setup will go for alternatives.

The only negative feedback which I've come across about the Beast so far is that the zoom ring becomes quite stiff at certain focal lengths and some have returned their lenses for replacement copies during the warranty period.

Based on sample comparisons which I've seen so far, the Beast has better (only slightly!) contrast and sharpness than the Tamron 28-75 wide open at f/2.8. However, from f/4 onwards, both are optically equal.
