We should all let "chisiang" go about his business. Rather than read it from other forums, it is always refreshing that one of our own forum members give us both sides to the story.

It makes decisions a little easier for all of us.

yes the D700 has some imperfections but hey it is a D700 and not a D3

i agree on the CF card door. it looks like my D80, i'd suppose nikon would have to cut some corners somewhere
to give you basically a D3 at a cheaper price, thank goodness the corners cut are not related to the images

and only the images matter
have fun shooting and post more images

Anyway, D3 is not without its flaws also. ;p

after been poisoned by the D700 Bros out there for almost a month...this thread is refreshing....really got no money to buy D700 lah!!!

Looking at your equipmemt list in your tagline, you might be better off with D300. ;p

if it was flawless, would they be able to sell you another one later?

it is the same for cars and other products, there is always something slightly better over the horizon

thankfully nikon's products are normally alot better from the previous model
not just slightly better

Yeah.. that's how they are able to keep draining our pockets and banks again and again..

Another would be a 100% viewfinder, or lack of.

They put one in a D300 and remove it for the D700? By golly, if not for this I would have bought the D700.

thought the viewfinder is diff for the d700 and d300? :dunno:

ah yes!This surprised me too
y 100% in D300 and 95% in D700?

There is no way you can compare it with a pro body like D3 or D2Hs or even the D1X.

It came along way from D100. I am sure you all still can remember that camera right....? Hehe.....

There is always flaws in any product that is manufactured in the market......including the D3 as well.

From a layman's point of view, the D700 definately have improved by leaps and bounds from D200 and D300. At this point in time, D700 will be the talk of the town for many months to come.

Apart from being FX, in what ways is D700 leaps and bounds from D300? :dunno:

Each to its strength. To some, DX is better due to the crop factor.

so they can put it back in for D800........ then drain more of our $$$$....

as per my earlier post, the vf for d300 and d700 is different as in, its still bigger on the d700.. or have i been not getting enough sleep? :bsmilie:

That is exactly my plan!! D300 + 17-55mm F2.8 is more than enough for my need.
Maybe will get Sigma 30mm F1.4 for D40 as backup.
But ISO 6400 clean images are always good to have.

I presume you have use both bodies?
