Notice that my "kit" was in quotes? Didn't say that Nikon was selling the lens with the D700 as a kit, but you can always buy them separately and use them as a kit.

Can I ask whether D700 is still imported from Japan, or Nikon has it manufactured in Thailand?

As for me, I only buy camera bodies from CP (yes premium sellers) but in my 20 years of purchasing products from them, I never had a single problems with any of my camera bodies. Pay a little more to get a peace of mind as I am a working photographer and would not want any failure in the equipments during overseas assignments.

Purchasing from reputable sellers will gurantee after sales services should defects occur. It doesn't guarantee you defects-free products. In any case, you'll still be referred back to the manufacturer should such an occasion arises. Doesn't matter where you buy the product from, as long as its covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

yes yellow warranty card with "Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd" printed on it.

think can still bargain & pay by Credit Card.
