Mr Chng,

Lighten up a bit. We know you are trying to do a good job by moderating the threads for ease of reading and sharing information.....

But try to take a friendlier approach rather than an autocratic one.....
some of us are new, young, imature.. whatever you call it, but at least we are not rude.

if something wrong was said, explain nicely instead of attempting to give a major sounding.
patience is a virtue....

There are times to be lighten there are times to be serious, there are also time not to snipe or be mischievous towards moderators. Out of line, then be prepared to face the consequences. Period. :nono: I am not a politician to garner popularity nor need any appraisal for my job as a mod. Thank You for your concern appreciate that.

Let's move on and not spoil this thread.

I saw D700 selling for $3799 at Sim Lim Sq ground floor GST included

last time got ppl post m'sia pricing, the moderator with aeroplane logo closed the thread

I am the moderator. What's your issue? Your point being?

Obviously you do not read or have problem understanding what was written or try to be mischievous.

See this post in this thread, I have merged all the various thread on D700 pricing and given a warning that any new thread on D700 not posted here will be deleted

Yet a new thread was started and here was my post on why it was deleted

Trying to flame a mod or insinuate a mod is not tolerated.

I DON'T MIND TO BE DEREGISTER FOR WRITING THE TRUTH

Good bye, troublemaker

Grab the cam in Malaysia and buy the CF card back here loh. Best of both worlds.

Yeap best of both worlds......but at least we can let some of our members know the pricing lor.....hehe.....to change to the DARKSIDE..................sounds very evil..........keke......

Dont want to mention name, you can get it in SG at that price.

Are you talking the one at Funan Centre.......?

If you can get at that price, can you please share with us..............maybe PM to some of us. Thanks!

Actually I was not expecting this kind of response from my post above.:embrass:

If you scroll up a little, there was another post by someone else (#222) stating that a local shop sells around $3.9k inclusive GST. That is equivalent to around $3.6k before GST. This is with local warranty, iinw.

I do support our local shops, and for a little bit more over the msia price you get local warranty, I would recommend that we get from our local shops, esp those giving very competitive prices.

If you know how to talk with the staff in HN, you can get them to try to match/lower the price ;)

That was the most logical "kit" lens for the D700. It makes a perfectly good walkabout lens.

FYI, there are 2 doublepage spreads in the D700 brochure and one of them, the one with the Vietnamese ladies surrounded by red doors, were taken by this lens stopped to f/4.2

I have tested the lens on the D700 and it gave very good results provided you close down 1 stop or more. With the high-ISO capability of the cam, closing down one stop is no problem. Plus, it's got VR :)

Of course please don't compare it to the new Trinity lenses costing 2.5 times more.

Huh? You mean D700 has a kit package? How much is it?

BTW, I have always been eyeballing this lens since last year as I find that this is a lovely lens for FF...but nobody is willing to let go of their copy around $500....now that D3 and D700 is out, I think the value of this lens has gone up again...:(

I do support local shops as well......expecially it's a hassle to bring your cam back to Malaysia if there is any problems.

Yeap saw that post but I would not have thought they would have sold at that price.

As for me, I only buy camera bodies from CP (yes premium sellers) but in my 20 years of purchasing products from them, I never had a single problems with any of my camera bodies. Pay a little more to get a peace of mind as I am a working photographer and would not want any failure in the equipments during overseas assignments.

However for lenses, I have purchase from various shops around Singapore and other countries as they have international warranty. Whoever gives me the best price for lenses, I will go to that shop.

supply and demand. the first generation iirc was terrible. touted to the be best all-round lens for wedding shooters, it was dropped from the wish list in a flash.

First gen? I am not sure, but is there 2 gen for the VR version (if there is a non VR version in the first place).

i was referring to the 24-120 during pre-VR days. for VR, i think this is first gen iirc.
