Which HN did u buy it from? Im surprised that they had ready stocks as compared to the Courts megastore in Tampines that i went to. The sales assistant said that i had to make an order first before they would go ahead and order from Nikon. Im also looking to get one using installments and I dont have a credit card. I read somewhere in this thread that somebody got quoted a D700 and grip for 4499 at a particular HN. Would that offer apply somewhere else?

I bought at Harvey Norman Funan last Sat. 4499 without any freebies. Then I asked my local friend to ask the price at Harvey Norman this afternoon they are giving him 4200 because he is Chinese.

After a few minutes I asked the guy again then they give me 4499 because of my color. tsk tsk tsk.

Hmm strange that's what the fella at HN JP offered me when i was handling the toy with a PC 105mm at their counter. I did a double take upon hearing it and he says yup, while MB-D10 stocks last (~2-3pcs). And nope, no discount if I didn't want the grip. So....:dunno:

HN staff has the flexibility to bargain (in terms of giving freebies). So next time you shop at HN, don't be shy, ask and bargain. Applicable to all department, not just for camera.

Ask, you may get it....don't ask, you will never get it.

I did ask HN for freebies, discount or any bundles. They said they can give me some discount on the D3 instead, but D700 he can't. We get the supervisor and after punching some figures, he also say that not possible to even give spare battery, let a lone throw in a grip :dunno:

Guess the consumer's retail price out there is still hovering around $4200-4500... my company did a request for quotation for the D700 yesterday and we were offered to buy it at $36xx before GST... with GST it would be around $3900+.

SO Mr HN still makes a decent profit after everything.

The HN prices for accessories are as follows:

MB-D10 - $400
2x4GB compact flash - 2x$90=180.

So the price after subtracting accessories is 4500-400-180=$3920, which is one of the best I seen so far. All GST inclusive. Of course, assuming that you need the accessories in the first place (I did).

Was also offered $39xx at Parisilk Holland (Inclusive of GST)

They are simply not rewarding customers who paid full price but encouraging people to bargain *sigh* and I'm one of those who simply hate and lousy at bargaining. despite that, I am still a happy bird with my D700 as I'm playing it since yesterday and don't need to wait or reserve. ;p

To get $3920, you can also try Lord's. I was quoted $3,920 (includes GST and by cash) by them.
