D70 Specifications Revealed......

I can't remember where I read it, but the Sony CCD used is a small stepdown from the current Sony CCD (ala 828).

Whatever it is, the sensor on the D70 is much larger (628% larger) than the one on the 828 and would have much better signal-to-noise characteristics.

As for D200, my guess will be a Sony CCD 8-9 MP with 4-5 fps, 10 RAW, 25 JPG buffer. The system will be a CAM1300 with color matrix metering. What was the top end will percolate down.

So the D200 will be positioned somewhere like F100? Hmm.. semi-pro body, detachable vertical grip, MF lens compatibility... what else? :what:

Nikon can afford to do this as D100 has been manufacturing for about 2 years now. This will not cannabalize the product but can considered as EOL, just like D1H.

Well looks like D100 is finally reaching EOL? It makes more sense to advance a product, than to limit it's capabilities and call it 'consumer' dslr

Anyway, saving $500 a month now. When Apr comes, I'll have $2000 for the D70. :vhappy:

D70 will hit 300D....and does an overshot and hits D100 and 10D :dunno: :think: ....but

Canon strikes back with 3D hitting D2h :devil: as rumour floats around....5.8MP ...10-12 fps...>45 AF points.... :sweat:

From the specs stated... it is really almost the replacement for D100...! then will the price be around the current D100 price?? or cheaper??
read from some of the sites and saw that D70 will not cater for the vertical grip as theres no electrode at the bottom of the camera... is this true?? maybe this is the only point where D100 win over the D70?? haha.. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

anyway... im very eagerly waiting for the launch of this camera.... and hopefully it does not disappoint us too much as now we have a rough idea of what to expect...!

Well, especially for electronic stuff, it has to come to an end. It does NOT mean that the D1X cannot take good photos; far from it. But just like Pentium 4 replaces Pentium 3, D1X is expected to EOL at the end of this year, if not earlier.

Just found out more info on the D70 at dpreview forum. Achtung, D100 users!!!

"From VERY reliable source (Korean nkon officials. They have pre-production D70 for EMI test or something. And it's just hours OFFICIAL d70 spec will be released)

D70 will has...

RGB matrix metering. (Same As F5!!!!)

1/8000 top shutter speed, 1/500 sync (Almost the same as D1 series, better than D2h)

I-TTL support
Greatly improved Auto WB (much better than D100. Almost as good as d2h)
User can clean CCD themselves (without AC adapter)
User can upgrade firmware themselves

D70 is not mere 300D killer. It's actually D100 killer.. "
