Harvey Norman in March 04

me also bought in March 04.

maybe from a batch of bad QC. Well luckily ours happened before one year. Still got warranty :)

i oso had that exact same problem.

my D70 was in the service centre for a week.
Light metering board replace.

bought Feb 04 from Harvey Norman.

ae

Hmmm, wonder if this will also trigger the mass sending in of D70s back to Nikon, like the way it did with the backfocus problem? :bsmilie:

mine with another 4 years extended warranty by harvey.

lets hope they don't replace the same batch of board otherwise, few months down the road, need to replace again.

:bsmilie: it does seem like quite a few cases of this problem occuring (with around 6 or 7 that I have heard of here in CS) - not sure it will be like the mass sending in with the backfocus problem as in this case it's obvious whether you have the problem or not, it was a bit more subjective in the backfocus case.

I had the same failure, almost fainted when it happened 2 hrs before my flight. Luckily a good friend lend me his D70

Heh, I'm a bit afraid now, what with only 3 months left on my warranty  Wonder what triggers this failure, could it be a bug in the design or just non-lasting parts?

Hmmm....quiet a nmber of cases involving stock from Harvey Norman.....considering they are not a major player in terms of quantity sold,
just wondering.

theirs are all local sets so i believe not all from Harvey.

I am not saying all.....a number.....

That's 8, if you include me. I got the D70 metering board replaced in Dec 04. The Nikon staff told me they had several cases already. My set was from Adelphi B1.

I had mine sent in for the same problem some time ago. They replaced some 'light metering FPC' (whatever that is). Worked fine after that.

Anybody got this problem pls??

The memory card access lamp keep blinking.
change battery dont help.
control panel abd viewfinder all no display.
reset button no help also.

Anyone come across this before?
Pls advise what could be wrong.

Thanks

Can you tell us your usage before that started to happen?

Is it after a long period of continuous usage that you started to have this problem? How was the environment & surrounding conditions?

nope, its straight out from the dry cabinet after 3 days of none usage.

sent in on 17th and it take 7 to 10 working days. Its the light metering board according to the staff.

seems like a consistent problem. but good that Nikon could resolve it, hopefully for good. it'll be a pain when the warranty expires.

Jia lat... Just bought a D70.. Now scared scared... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does seem the sets that develop these problems are:

1. 7 to 10 months old, and
2. Belongs to normal shooters? (as compared to professionals who use them a lot)?

Siong man... Seriously starting to worry...

It happen as follows.
For the first 3 mths, shoot every wk, Avg 30 shots each weekend

On the third mth, shoot about 600 jpeg in 3 hrs. After about 400 shoots, D70 hang, Control panel and viewfinder display is lighted. But nothing works. Take out battery twice before recover.

4th and 5th mth in dry cabinet.

6th mths, shoot about 230 picture in about 4 hrs. After about 150 shots and 2 hrs later, D70 abit sort sort. Same thing, hang. But this time, switch on and off a few times can recover already.

7th and 8ths mths in dry cabinet. But i am sure i saw that disc access lamp blinking in the dry cabinet. When I am ready to inspect it, every thing ok liao. Works perfectly.

Then 1 more months in dry cabinet until Dec 04, when I am preparing it for use the next day. When I took it out of the dry cabinet, no blinking light one,
the blinking problem starts when i switch it on. Then Si Liao. Haiz
