This happen indoors in aircon. Film counter shows 'E' (error).

Send it to Shriro House to replace the light metering circuit board. Many people including me, have the same problem. If it happens again, I confirm sell my D70 ;(

What timing did you set the metering system to continously monitor the surrounding light?

The default is at 6 seconds.

Maybe it's wiser to set it to a lower timing to prevent the overheating of the metering pcb.

Ehh...I didn't change it. Was at default. So should be 6 sec.

I hope it was not due to how long the meter is on. I had a habit of always give the shutter release a light tap to turn the meter on although I don't need the meter at the time :( Think better change that habit urgently liao.

But then cannot be like that one lei. So lousy one meh. :dunno: :)

Siao liao... My D100 no such problem leh... Bought Sept 2002 and still working.. by now shutter count ard 50K plus already. It was so good that I bought another D100. Then came the D70... Bought because I want the high flash sync...

Really siao liao... Maybe better sell the D70 and stick to D100. HAve not even done any serious shooting yet.

WTS: Mint D70... Look out for it!!! (Maybe)

Totally unacceptable. :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

I think pple shld think twice of getting Nikon products.

crap :S seriosu? *ugh* thats sad man...

I encountered the same problem early december, it took ~12 days for them to replace the "FPC".
Mine was bought in 28 Feb, only shot ~1460 photos when this happened. seemed not related to usage, maybe design or part quality problem during early batch, hopefully.

DAMN IT! My D70 has the exact same symptons! Super unlucky!>>>>>
Going to SHIRO later.

where did u all get yr D70 from???
seem D70 got so many ERR problems.....

When u guys put the d70 in the cabinet for long storage, did u all take out the batt or leave it on? The same thing happened to my colleague's d70 when he took out the batt, left in in the dry cabinet for a few days, then tried turning on the cam again with the batt inside of course.

does that mean we should leave the batt in the D70 to minimise this prob?

is the problem only affecting those early owners of D70? anyone bought it in the last few months had any similiar case? just curious.... since this is a known issue.... nikon should have rectify the problems in the later shipments.

Its just a hunch thats why asking the others who have this problem. Anyway for my d70 the batt stays in the cam all the time just in case. Im a bit worried too considering that i pushed for this cam over the digital rebel and evolt when me and my wife was looking for a new cam.

From anecdotal evidence, it seems to be a problem of the earlier batches (people who bought in Feb/Mar 2004) - haven't heard of a case of any later batches having the problem. Probably a faulty part issue in the "light measuring fcp" that may have been cleared up.

btw, all D70 sets in Singapore should start with 700... I'm not sure who's not beside those bought from overseas. :)

I think u have just alarmed a lot of people. ;p

Got mine the first day it was out in Feb and touchwood, no problems at all not even with back focus.
