D600 User Thread II

Haha thanks for all ur suggestions and advices. I guess for me, its a case of needs vs wants. The 16-35 is what i need as i shoot wide more often than tele. But the 24-70, being such a reputable lens with fast AF its just tempting!! :p pardon my swakoo-ness but i have never own such a lens with this AF speed...its awesome just to feel the focusing lol

I guess ill go with my needs. I had loved both my 11-16 on aps-c and 35 on FF, and having both in one lens would be great! I can sacrifice a bit on losing the bigger aperture and carry less load while i enjoy my trip :)

Shoot panoramic shots; you can get away with a lighter setup.

Original Nikon MBD-14 is selling at Sim Lim Square around $180-$190 with warranty from Nikon (S) its better to buy original one in case it break down no after sale service, no spare parts or repair. Don't know how reliable is third party imitation product.

Any technical expert (engineer) on camera here can answer how does this happened and what's cause it? A shutter can cause dust & oil? Is it cause by friction on the the shutter release? Oil must be use to prevent heat build up or reduce noise or friction on the side of the shutter release. Can someone here answer this questions?

You are right brother I do agree nothing is 100% prefect. They have to learn how to clean it themselves or get a crash course from Nikon on how to clean dust in sensor & oil.

Is dust & oil a serious problem, I don't think so? How do we define service & repair? Cleaning or changing of parts? How often does it happened to justified it a nuisance?

I was just wonder when I bought a car if I found that it gives me problem will the seller change for me a new car or just service it or replace the parts? I guess as long as it is under warranty they will do it free of charge. The same goes for buying a camera regardless of what brand? I agree with you on this point why buy if one don't have confidence in the QC?

Doesn't really matter to me as Phottix is $99, with 1 year warranty, even if it's spoilt, could easily replace it with another Phottix at $99.

This is just me, of course if it's $190 ONLY, it would be a good buy, because AFAIK, it was quoted $300+ for the MB-D14 and the MB-D12 at $500+, that I opted for 3rd party grips this time round.

I was quoted $275 for original d600 grip. But I opt to buy a chromage d600 grip as i was offered at $80 from reddotphoto. So far so well.

I think $275 is okay for an original quality vertical grip.

nikon charge high price cos they had to engineered it...the rest jus reverse-engineered it...lol...
i got the phottix 1 as well.$99...

Actually I used to always buy 3rd party, until I realize Nikon gear fetches much higher resale price when upgrading, so it becomes worthwhile..

Usage wise, reliable 3rd party is as gd. Especially for easy to copy tech items.

I do go for original one if I am doing serious shooting .. sometime 3rd party item has issue and u dun want it to ruin the shoot. Especially id during paid jobs

Hi, new in D600, may I ask what is the best match lens for d600?

I mean for travel purpose, been looking for 24/70 or 70-200 nano

Everybody prefers a different lens/lenses for traveling. There is no answer to your question. Why don't you buy what you like?
