If this rumour is true, it might just tempt me away from DX
So I'd assume you're Fx/AF-S ready? On NR, you can imagine half the crowd with legacy lenses are not too crazy about the exclusion of AF-motor...
In any case, all these could just be someone's idea of a bad joke. Nothing is finalised until the closing months of full disclosure.
But if it is true... man-oh-man... the future's so bright I gotta wear shades...
I'm already on Fx, so D600 can easily be a good backup or secondary body fitted with an UWA (to maximize the 24MP) - depending on the lens setup.
So far only my 24-70 is AF-S haha but the rumour is 40% confirmed so I hope they might include the BIM (if Nikon is really producing this body), if not I will just keep my D7000 for macro use and mainly use the FX for portraits and street. Add an AF-S 85mm f1.8G and this will make a pretty good setup for portraits.
Sounds fine and dandy. I'm sure Dx will still last a good while it won't just disappear overnight when the rumour is indeed true...
On a side note, I'm just wondering how Nikon will keep up with their nonclementures... D800 is a whole new class of it's own so the 800 stays... D700 will be phased out (eventually), but I wonder if the true replacements will still use the 7XX series...
Single digit flagships will have no problem since it can last all the way to 9 or maybe more...
Rumour states D400 as D300s' replacement.... Or will it be still within D3XX? If 400 is taken up, that leaves 500, 600 and 900... simply not a lot of room left if they keep coming up with new class of bodies... :bsmilie:
Oh what mindless chit-chats we dwell into when we are not shooting...
Hi, since there are discussion about D lens and G lens, I want to ask, why is it Nikon launches more G lens than D lens? Nothing wrong with G lens, however I am thinking, G lens's built is a bit plasticky (light), with built-in motor. Built-in-motor, I have some worries about built-in-motor for prime, as I worry that it won't last long (2-5 years). For lenses without motor, like D lens, it can last quite long. For this reason, I collect some of the D lenses. Another consideration is that the body I used has in built motor. Isn't that couple with lens without motor should be faster and better?
Another question is, well, until now we don't know the solution yet. There are quite a lot of lenses that are not advisable to use with D800 due to the resolution. And why is it so that Nikon launches D800 with high megapixels? This brings me 2 questions in my mind. Firstly, what about those old manual lenses and those lenses that cannot support D800? Is this the time that separate manual /pre D800 lenses from future high megapixel lenses? Secondly, how is Nikon going to complete its lenses lineup as current lineup maybe is not complete yet, at the same time Nikon has to launch replacing lenses for existing lineup, at the same time complete it's current lineup? Do we expect to see more replacing lenses plus new G lenses in near future?
And for the nomenclature,
D3200
D5100
D7000 (D90)
D600 (D300s)
D800 (D700)
D4
Really is a bit confusing and messy.

anyway, some readers are clarifying on Nikon Rumors that the d600 thing might be a joke from some chinese forum.
we should get some sleep and believe that the d700 replacement is out there somewhere... i want a built in motor so much... something that is d300 sized at least...
so much speculation... some makes sense some doesn't.
marketing an entry level FX seems to make sense. making it crippled and having less features than a d7000 is mind boggling.
let's grab our gear and go shoot over this weekend and next tuesday's public holiday.. better than our incessant chatter here :bsmilie:
If I'm paying more than the D7000 I want a few more things like a 100% viewfinder and AF fine-tune, well, nothing is concrete for now.
As for next tuesday, I'm joining this

this is my point exactly, if we are paying a price higher than d7000 cost, and it lacks a motor, which the d7000 has....
of course it can be justified as sensor cost
