not "announced" lah, rumoured... :bsmilie:

on the other hand, they could be reusing their now retired 24MP FX D3x sensor... cut down to "auto DX" (hasn't this always been available in all Nikon FX DSLRs so far? not new feature right?) still a useful 10MP...

Personally, I felt the possibility that since DX lens is easily accepted by these FX body, there is a high possibility that this rumoured body may just be able to switch on its own into a cropped frame without reducing the size. Just like 1dx.
1Dx has crop mode?... I know they have sRAW but that is also the full sensor size, no?...

ah..now finally the thread title is changed.
lol.

Looking forward to it.

Nowadays, the naming numbering of Nikon is quite confusing.

The thing is, it's very clear from the ultra beginning that full frame lenses are much flexible - can use on both crop and full frame bodies - dunno why ppl still bobo go and buy DX stuffs. Even if DX stuffs are cheaper, it makes zero sense to buy DX stuffs. From the start all consumers should have stop and scrap all plans for DX stuffs..

Erm.. most consumers out there do not need FX btw... soccer moms, proud dads, travel and shoot folks. They are more than happy to have their smaller and lighter DX cameras, most do not even venture out of the 18-55, 55-200 or 18-200. Only in SG, many folks are more concerned about chasing the latest and greatest.

well some don have the money to go straight to FX lenses..

It is not just money... for people who are not going to FX, there is no point getting FX lenses, which are more expensive, heavier and bulkier.

there are dx perks too.
And some wildlife pros will definitely hope nikon don't throw away the D300s series. To shoot 24mp on dx mode at 8fps would be a dream for them.
A "lower end" D600/400 was always coming, nikon has taken great pains to emphasise the D800 doesn't replace the D700. But to have one in a D7000-esque body while being named a D600 would be very weird. There's also a limit to how "small" it can be because of the sensor size and viewfinder, while incorporating an lcd and all the buttons to fiddle about. I think the price point would be "entry level" in terms of full-frame but still above D7000 and maybe the new DX D300 replacement. If it even happens.

Muaahahahah!! Ze plot thickens!....

24MP.....

No in-body motor....

Around US$1500...

Visual of a neck strap emblazoned with 600...

Looks like the abandonment of the DX series might have started.... A bold and extremely controversial move indeed

Hmm I wonder why no in-body motor though...is it that expensive to put it in? And why does it not have a function that a lower end camera like the D7000 has.

But heck, US$1500 sounds like a darn good price for a FX body!

I was kinda hoping for the old D3s sensor...

In the business mindset they need you spend more in FX AFS lens for entry level.

Also the AF lens an no built-in motor so the lens itself can be used for long-lasting.

But it time if bundle with 24-70/24-85mm for Kit lens what is my focus in the kit lens only.

He he same perform like 18-55 DX Vr but pay lesser in FX lens...

One more thing don't expected the new body design don't offer the size like a D300/D700/800
An only handing like a D7000 small body.
Also we unknown yet the body will be plastic?
Become cheap & good for lightweight.

Hmm... Dual SD card slots. Haiz... Looks like unless I got D800 or D4, my CF cards are going to be useless soon!

CF cards are much more expensive as compared to its SD card equivalent.

to me, it makes $$ sense to move over to SD cards.

How come nobody discussed the strap image? Whether it's Photoshopped or not? :bsmilie: I thought it's the rule of the thumb for all NR rumors? Yet, this time...almost everyone has taken it as real...

So all of you convinced that it is real? Anyone managed to check out the chinese site that created this buzz and verify if this is a hoax or indeed real?

Especially the 95mb/s SD extreme pro right. Cheap and good

With regards to no-AF motor... I don't know, I came into an era where AF-S lenses are everywhere. Read up on AF-D lenses and their performances, still ended up being attracted to the AF-S side in terms of performance and image quality (namely the Bokeh aspect)... I don't have 180/2.8 nor the 200/4... (both of which are not even in my radar these days)

To date, I only have AF-S lenses... The only AF-D lens was from the film era when I got my first film SLR and even that I don't even use these days (relegated to the dry box with the film body to make more room for the dry cabinet)...

I believe there are probably a great percentage of users in this category for Nikon to plan for this strategy (certainly wasn't overnight bashful decision)... Secondly, think of motorless entry-level DX users who have been already years of getting used to AF-S lenses. Some of whom would have outgrown their current set and probably getting ready to move up to a Fx soon... Lower budget Fx is like stepping onto the current state-of-the-art Public buses that lowers it's platform to your level so that you can seamlessly get into it with ease...

Damn interesting strategy Nikon. A game changer! First a 36MP Fx, to shake the MF boat, next a 24MP Dx to shake the competition's boat (regarding MP race)... now (if true) a 24MP Fx to make everyone shake their bootie to the their tune... LOL Epic

If true, the D600 with the USD$1.5k will shake up the industry in the pricing department... will have to see how Canon scramble to react to this one...

IMHO the no-motor makes sense. Nikon the the recent years are updating all their old AFD primes.. and till date I personally have zero non AFS lenses even though I am using D90 which has the in-built motor.

If you had own the AF 50mm f1.8D & G version in G has much improved over than G and more vivid with sharper + no more CA in wide open already.
