true that.

personally for you is this a good or bad thing? i've heard so much about CF being more rugged.

anyway how rugged and what size do you think the body will be?

CF cards are so rugged that it spoils 2 of my card readers! It's a joke but true story :p

CF cards has the advantage of higher transfer rate over SD if given at the same level (referring to Sandisk denotation). And CF card was the traditional media for older camera bodies. SD card ain't a bad idea, but if D600 is really going to be dual SD slots, it's definitely not targeting the pro user market who had been entrenched with CF cards. They could be trying to build a new breed of users using only SD and XQD cards, but currently, D4 is the only product I know (I mean all electronics) that uses the new XQD card, and the second slot is still a CF, not SD. I feel CF card is here to stay for another 5 years given that pro camera tends to be updated every 3 to 5 years.

As for me, I'll still likely stick to getting a D800 (or D800E) given what I seen it can do.... My D700 is always there if I need the FPS.

Right now in the market of Sandisk brand

32gb @ 95mb/s selling price $140 around there.

If the 32gb of 90mb/s can be buy double of SD card.

The performance wise I'm have no idea in nothing different from 2 card in same time of when preview in the body of Raw files.

lol ... could have real world repercussions as potential d800/d4 owners wait out for this fabled d600.

I DID amend the heading minutes after the posting... you can see it above your reply box... (Added "Not Official Yet") but the system never fully register it leh (maybe CS server also don't want it to be just a rumour...:bsmilie: )

Paiseh/Sorry for the false alarm. But wow, what a buzz it has created - I'm sure it will put some people on hold who isn't really keen on the D800/E to begin with...

Actually DX has its pros ad cons, the increased DOF, crop factor, lighter equipment
i am toying with the idea of a D3200 as a travel camera

As a travel camera it will do wonders given the 24MP it is released with. The overall design also looks better (less rounded, less "toy-like") more like a "serious" camera than its predecessor. Actually, spec-wise, it feels like a D5000 (with 4fps but minus the flip-LCD) but only much better! A tool is a tool, in the hands of someone who can harness it's potential, it becomes a powerful tool...

so when can we start pre ordering ? :bsmilie:

Here's what I think... the D600, if it's true... could be produced in places other than Japan... (Not MIJ), Thailand or Malaysia or China perhaps? THIS would alleviate the current supply bottlenecks with D800/800E (it being swamped by peeps who do not really want it but got it because it's the latest more affordable Fx?).

Secondly... being cheaper - it can mean a few things... (smaller body - hence SD cards).... and maybe full plastic (gosh, hope not) or half mag allow body (like the D7000)... Weather sealed or not, hard to say - not everyone needs a weather-sealed body although good to have...

But I truly hopes it can retain most of what D700 currently delivers...
1) good fps... 6? and up to 8/9 with a grip?
2) full alloy body
3) 16MP and above is jolly good enough.
4) better than D700/D800 ISO performance? To so-called "MATCH" or better the competition's?
5) weather sealed
6) 100% VF
7) takes the WT-5 (wishful thinking)...

Not strange since D4 is built for speed and D800/E is not... And if the D600 is also built for speed (like 8fps capabilities)... XQD comes in handy. Most pro togs do not have XQD to begin with so may buy more XQDs for their D4s (believe me, pros will be pros - ONE card is NEVER enough)...

It might entice DX users (D7000) who are well accustomed to SD card size to move up since they do not have CF cards anyway and can immediately adopt the new entry level Fx body with ease (no need to start buying XQDs yet).

couldn't agree more. I for one will probably never buy a FF system unless money was no object & I can hire a porter to lug around all my gear everywhere I go. I already think long & hard before bring another lens out during my shoots with my crop camera. haha

Maybe not now... but in the future who knows?

The biggest bugbear for FX is 2 major things:
1) Size and weight
2) High costs of lenses...

What if in the future, Fx bodies becomes less cumbersome and more lightweight (eg D4 is now lighter than D3s, D800/E is lighter than D700)... and imagine - becomes more affordable?

What if some Fx lenses becomes cheaper to produce and more affordable? (eg, primes instead of zooms: 50/1.8, 85/1.8, 28/1.8?) As some togs swears by the fact that pro-level zooms can already deliver prime-quality. Whereas, primes are better suited for less urgent shoots than zooms....

actually most of us do not need the WT-5, the WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter is cheap and good

Yeah I know, Wu-1a is AWESOME if it can be used with all Dx/Fx bodies... PLEASE make it backward compatible Nikon! (If not now, maybe near future when you're made enough with the D3200!) Guaranteed will sell like hottest and tastiest ang-ku-kuehs around...

Actually, why I mentioned WT-5... for those who need to tether their images to the laptops... More for pro tog usage (sports, news, weddings, events etc).

Wu-1a has no tethering capabilities (or not fast enough) right? Some say can be hacked and reprogrammed to do so...

what I hope for: better noise performance than d7000, slightly bigger body, fully weather sealed and mag alloy body. 100% viewfinder. 24MP.(since dx 3200 alr 24)
indeed quite a surprise to be rumored another fx body.

Most probably if this setup were to be announced, then it would follow more of D4 characteristics and specifications.

The relationship goes like D3, D3x, D700 generation. Personally, I felt the possibility that since DX lens is easily accepted by these FX body, there is a high possibility that this rumoured body may just be able to switch on its own into a cropped frame without reducing the size. Just like 1dx. Another chip can always be added. With this feature it will definitely draw more DX users.

Rumor lists new battery grip... it jolly well better not the the same as D800's Or else I'd cry "foul"! :bsmilie:
