Welcome to the nikon club.

Remember to read your manual, and update your anti virus. Haha

Hmm have read the manual a few times, tried it out and yes I did have difficultly understanding it at first as compared to 60d which I have used eariler. Though I still got to read out more what does metering does as its not covered much in the manual.

Er why update anti virus??

Hi all! I am looking to buy a Nikon D5100 next year. Where will be a better place to buy? cause Alan gave me a quote of 995, while another shop gave me a quote of 920 big difference. And what is a grey set?

Preferred place to buy are like TK FOTO in Funan, MS Color in AMK central, Parasilk Electronics.

Grey set means the warranty is not covered by Nikon Singapore.

Wa which shop quote 920? I searched many places and mostly offered more then 1k except for MS Color or TK photo

Generally funan you can buy from slr revolution, tk foto, john 3:16, alan photo. For me, when i want to buy stuff i would start from top ask john and ask til reach the 2nd level Alan photo. Usually places with better quotes would be slr and tk. I bought stuff from slr, tk and Alan before. The rest not too sure.... Just make sure you NEVER GO BALLY PHOTO. Other places to check out would be ms color at ang mo kio, they have 3 outlets there. Parasilk and cathay photo. You should ask quotes for what you buying anyway from a few shops above before going down.

I wouldn't recommend Alan photo too actually. Too many bad experiences by the members here

The important thing is to know what you buying la... Check online for quotes first from few reputable stores such as tk foto, slr revolution, cathay photo, ms color and parasilk. When buying just check your stuff carefully and make sure they don't swap sets.Oh ya... Last very super important point. Make sure they only accept cash or at most nets. If they accept credit card... Something must be really wrong. So best is you make sure you have enough cash before and nets one day limit is only 1k if never remember wrong.

Yup I got mine at ms color last week , being a first time dslr user the staff there took time to explain to me and they let me try other model etc. they don't rush you into buying. What's more they provide water during the time you are there =)

Thanks a lot folks! Got a quote from MS colour 980. BTW, it is important to get things like battery grip and stuff? sorry all. still quite new to it!

Wa , my quote from MS colour was 990 1 week ago and i bought from them.. Er I personally dont think you need to get much thing since you are just starting out photography.. I only grab a LCD screen protector and a UV filter on the day i bought my camera.

Currently im hunting for some cheap dry box.

Go for dry cabinet instead. Less hassle and cheaper in the long run

Any cheap recommendation? Cheapest i saw is at least 120 plus for a 30l..

That's one of the cheapest you can find. If you plan to be in this hobby for long, then you should get one.

Get a bigger size... You can put more stuffs in.. Haha

Hmmm been reading up on dry cab this morning.. Probably going with Dry-cabi since its like the most popular brand...

Is there really a big difference in Ad and DHC? I know the theoretically difference between them bt do they really make a big effect? Cause the price difference is alot lol

Digi-cabi you mean? Not much difference, since once you set at the required humidity then you will just leave it.

Yea digi-cabi, just not sure whether the AD is good enough since theres alot of trial and error involve and its accuracy is not as good as the DHC type
