Yea digi-cabi, just not sure whether the AD is good enough since theres alot of trial and error involve and its accuracy is not as good as the DHC type

Actually I trust the AD series more as the hygrometer is independent of the controls. For the DHC series, I'm not sure if the humidity is what I set it at.

Hmmm, sounds true... maybe i shld have a look and decide.. but most of them must get the expensive one before they have free delivery =(

Haha... Actually I just buy a big cheap toyogo tupperware and put silca gel in container and leave all my stuff inside. Then when I see the gel turn red/ transparent then I go replace. 500g of silca gel is quite cheap actually use then throw hmmm... 500g of silca gel costing around 6dollars would last around 1month. This method abit cheapo but I guess it works... LOL

Get a proper dry cabinet... It is more worthwhile in the long run

$6 a month. 12 months = $72. 24 months = $144. And all the hassle of buying and replacing Silica Gel, transportation costs to go to the store to buy the Silica Gel and the risk of forgetting...

A 30L dry cab cost less than $110. And you get a proper metal cabinate, glass door, hygrometer and the convenience of getting to your gear easily and neat stoarge.

Is the digi-cabi dry box sufficient? I see it at tampinese challenger selling it for 24 dollar. I dont think I will go for any lens anytime soon... Else I will just go whack one 60l DHC , but yea dunno whether it will be an overkill for the moment.

The box is too much of a hassle. You must constantly check and maintain the humidity and there's also the chance that you will forget. Over time, the money spent on silica gel can be used to buy a new dry cabinet.

Also, the electricity usage is very little... I don't think it will account to $6 a month compare to the silica gel (based on a 60L model)

I was once like you guys, getting those air tight tupperware and add those silica gels, it is not worth it at all. End up i also got a dry cabinet. The humidity in the dry cabinet need to be around 40% - 50%, if you are using silica gels, you will find it hard to maintain the humidity. Heard people say that if the humidity too low, it will cause the rubber grip on camera and lens to harder faster and crack. hahaha...

by the way, anybody owns a AFS 70-300mm VR and AFS 55-300mm VR? can advice me on their tracking speed and focusing speed?

Right most probably I will get a dry cabinet base on the experiences you guys shared =)

Is truth that just using silica gel really harden the rubber grip I myself encounter it. I just put gel and ignore it

Hi all, I seemed to have a black spot on my view finder, changed lens and use the view finder without any lens the black spot is still there.

Thus I assumed is the body, googled it and many ppl recommend using the blower to blow it. However the black spot still remains.

Ps: it does not affect the picture quality.

Should be a piece of dust stuck there. If it doesn't bother you then you can just leave it. If not you can send it to NSC for cleaning

Yea an irritating dust, no matter how much i blow it doesn't come out.. make me feel like using the pen-brush to sweep that area but im worried will cause more complications. This kind of thing go to NSC need to pay or is it covered under warranty?

Not covered by warranty, you have pay for the sensor cleaning. Will cost you about $20+

New user to d5100, just bought it last week. Didn't opt to get the kit lens to cut cost as i have other lenses. It is great camera but i have to spend some time to familiarize with it. I love the tilt screen, it will come handy when taking top down or down up shots.
