D5100 user...fall in!!

B&s is buy n sell forum. Costs ard 260~300(some comes with uv filters) Brand new is ~360 from shops. Suggest u try out ur 18-55 first. If u find that u need a longer reach, then go b&s pick up a copy. Btw, images r sharper from the 18-55 compared to the 18-105.

it's florence who emailed me..maybe u can try TK photo for quote..they have the GSS promo now at 999 also.

These are 2 very different lenses.. 18-105 is a wide to short telephoto lens wherelese 55-200 is a zoom to telephoto.
There is only a overlap for 50mm & these 2 lenses serve different purposes.

If that's what you need and you feel happy abt the early purchase with the excess you paid, I apologize for what I said to you.

But i stand by my statement that buying from megastore or IT show, is not a wise move. The price you paid for the items you receive, under normal circumstances, is not a good deal.

Hi All, for what i have experience last May or June PC show at suntec D5100 priced at 1300 +/- plus freebies like the trolley bag, then I go to Funan Allan Photo and got it for $1005 w/sd card, cleaner, bag, tripod , same with pc show except for the trolley bag that i dont need, and saved me from > $250 ... also the service Alan Photo gave me was superb, what he tell about the camera was not a lie, after a month I grew with the camera, Alan Photo was right . so im happy with my camera, with service and my hard earn money ... All I need now is a better glass to maximize D5100.... Peace....

Come on, there is no end when you compare Nikon and Canon. In the end, they are just tools for you to take photos. Have fun with your purchase.

Seriously, I like this D5100 Bugger because it is so light and i can walk whole day with it.

Once buy already dont doubt le. Just focus on getting better with the camera. U will learn to love ur camera soon. and ur camera is very light!

On a side note, as u mentioned that u are taking family portraits, i assume alot of shots will be taken indoors. Do take note that 50mm is rather tight indoors. u may want to consider a wider prime lens.
