ooh ok thanks! the recorded 4FPS is tested using these setting? by the way, does the class of memory card affects the fps?

I dunno how they actually tested for the 4FPS. But that is what i do to see the speed of my camera.

The camera stores the pictures in it's buffer before writing to the SD Card.
By shooting continuously, ur buffer starts to fill up.
The better the class of the memory card, the faster ur camera can write to the card,
Therefore it will allow for a longer continuous burst of shots (due to the buffer being filled up slower)
(FPS is not related to this)

i have set the shutter speed to 1/4000 and in S mode..but when i try continuous shooting..it still like taking one pic per second ?

did you set to continuous firing mode??

did you set to continuous firing mode??

you might want to try this setting to double check.

1. set your dial to M mode,
2. set your shutter speed to 1/4000
3. set your shutter firing mode to continuous.
4. ignore your aperture for the time being.

see if you can get 4 fps mode.

if not, go to your setting to see your continuous shutter is 4 frame or 1 frame..... if not 4 frame, set to 4 frame.

try try

may i know if the SD card used is of Class 6 and above?

I dont think u can select the FPS speed for the D5100. Looking through the d5100 manual, It's just single frame or continuous.

Like Reno said, set M, shutter speed 1/400, Continuous shutter and shoot away.
If u still feel unsure, turn on ur room light and focus on the light then snap.

i set to mode to M and shutter speed to 1/4000 already..and i tried shooting focus on part of the sunlight..the shutter release speed still about 1fps :(

These are the things that i can tink of.

1) multiple exposure off
2) Interval timer shooting off
3) Exposure delay mode off
4) No popup flash

thanks! i got the exposure delay mode set to OFF and it works better now :) think this is the reason affecting it previously..

by the way, when set exposure delay mode to off, it means lesser light is being passed through the mirror?

It wont matter.. U want more light to enter ur camera, u open up bigger aperture or longer shutter speed.

Exposure Delay Mode delays the exposure until about half a second after the mirror is raised, allowing a small amount of time for vibration from the movement of the mirror to cease.

oooh ok..so i just set it off always.. thanks so much !

nope, the exposure delay mode is actually perform similar as mirror lock up function in D7000, D300, D300s and D700. It is more for settings to be used on tripod to reduce mirror shake ( mirror shake occurs when you press the trigger button where the mirror move up, shutter immediately open and close, mirror close down, it will create some shake which may cause your photo to be blur especially you doing shots like 1/3 - 1 sec. ). The exposure delay mode works when you press the trigger button, the mirror will lock up, the shutter will open after 1 sec after the mirror goes up. Mirror lock up allows you when you want to release the shutter button.

just to check with anybody have bought remote cable release MC-DC2, do you all find the connection is very tight when plug into d5100?
