D5100 user...fall in!!

just to check with anybody have bought remote cable release MC-DC2, do you all find the connection is very tight when plug into d5100?

erh... it is so tight that the metal contact broke out from the plastic housing when you try to disconnect from the camera body..... :sweat:

Another reason why I feel local distro (sg) are fud dup... Charging u more while giving u less warranty.. 2 yrs is almost like the terms in US...
Does registering your camera with nikon MY gives u another 3 mth extra warranty?

I'm not sure about that, I received 2 warranty cards and a receipt...

Hi all, I've jus join the forum and had been reading all abt the D5100.
Am very interested to get it but dunnoe where to get the best deal.
Understand that megastores can negotiate price but still slightly higher than outside market rate,
hence can anyone offer me a solution? Maybe someone can pm the price with the freebie?

If you love the freebies, head down to the megastore, but then you can try head down to those reputable store like TK Foto or MS Color. Price is quite standard for these reputable store, price is around +- $10.

I went down to Harvey to take a look last night and saw the GSS promo with bag + travel bag + 8gb card + tripod + batt + extra batt. But when I went to courts to take a look the same price offer without the extra batt but a dry cabinet. Both offers are @ $1199.
Was thinking whether anyone has offer that is less than 1k? Dry cabinet I have one at home le. Mc colour offer is good? How is their after sale service?

Most reputable stores in funan offers lesser than $1k with similar or slightly lesser freebies. Whether are you willing to pay $200 extra to get freebies is entirely up to u. But I can tell u, the freebies you listed hardly worth $200.

I'm not sure about that, I received 2 warranty cards and a receipt...

Better to check for the length of warranty.. The 2 warranty cards is for the camera body & the lens (1 Each)

18-105 is good kit lens and of course, gives that extra 60mm of focal length. Pretty nice for a beginner to start off with.

I started off with a 18-105 and moved on to a 17-50/2.8.
