What's the rough best price for this cam (with kit lens) right now?

Moving onto higher levels, but alas, not that high yet

Would appreciate if someone could er, provide a short write-up on exactly how much moolah I'd have to blow to get the best out of this one, if not I'll just sit on the prosumer idea I'd been having all along

well i recommand d40 + 18-55(kit lens) + 55-200 + flash(if you need it).. total damage would be about $1300+/-
or
d40 + 18-55(kit lens) + 70-300VR(the lastest lens) = $1800+/- damage
or
d40 + 18-200VR - 18-55(sell it away) = $2000+/- damage...

oopz, i forgotten to add something... it should be
d40 + 18-55(kit lens) + 55-200 + BBB virus = $1300+/- + more spending! :sweatsm:

how do u adjust the exposure / aperture / shutter in D40? via the view finder or the LCD?

bcos if via view finder, a bit small and straining for my eyes.

if via LCD, a bit slow right? as have to press Info, then scroll here and there.

Hi Paul, there's also a setting that you can set that the LCD display turns on whenever you half-depress the shutter.

Hope this helps ;)

To all D40 users and experienced Users:

get the da protector. if the d40 one is not out yet, you can use the d200 one, it fits perfect (or VERY close to perfect) I am very satisfied with it.

ya... wanna find more about it... but US sites are hard to get in now after the Taiwan Quake... Da Protector.com still "loading"....

What camera bag are you guys using to carry the little D40 ard huh? :)

:embrass: FOC bag that came along with the Courts package... until i get another telephoto lens.. i'd probably stick with it.. as it's actually small enuff to carry the little gem around ;)

If I do get the 18-200mm then probably i'll just stick with the bag too since then i'll not be using the kit lens... until i get a wide angle lens.

Do anyone know which shop got offer taking in D40 kit len? I thinking of trading in and get an AF-S or AF-I CPU lenses.

hey just want to know, would it be advisable to get a nikkor 50mm f1.8 lens with a d40 kit? I understand the d40 won't AF with the lens but i'm fine with manual focus.

And just wondering, what is the latest pricing of a d40 kit eh?

Thanks

personally i use AF 99% of my time, if i were to pay $170 for a "MF" 50 f1.8 i definite give it a miss.

I heard Nikon is going to launch a new AFS 50f1.8, that's why they mistakingly announced that the AFD 50f1.8 is discontinued this year. But its still a rumour.:dunno:

I got my D40 last Friday at AMK Courts for $1088. It comes with the kit, bag, tripod, 40GB camera partner and 1GB SD card. Quite a good deal, but I understand that demand is high. They ran out of stock and ordered 5 sets but in the end only got 1 delivered to them. I was luck enough to get that 1 set cos I didn't just call them to check for stock arrival but also left my contact number for them to call me when it comes in.

I understand that other places are selling from $950-$990 depending on what freebies they give (usually just 1 GB SD card) and probably how much they like you when they see you.

So now happily playing with my new toy. Personally very happy with the handling and photos taken (pls don't ask me to post them cos my skill really not up to the mark) except that I'd prefer if the kit lens can zoom a bit further, perhaps up to 70mm instead of 55. The bag given is quite small and neat, but I think can only fit the camera, kit lens and either 1 more lens or flash but probably not both.

Bought a dry box from Carrefour which is selling a small electric one (30 litres I think) for $99 and give a free silicon type dry box. Problem is when I went back and opened the packaging, I found that the tray is cracked. So have to go back there tomorrow to get it replaced.

NOTE: it was sunny through the window, so the bag is kinda overexposed/washed out, it's actually a black nylon bag... sorry for the lousy shot... paiseh :embrass:

Hi Captnj... what's the main difference btwn "da protector" and the off the shelves/counters clear protectors for cam/pda's ?

you have a shot of your's ? either on your D200 or D40..?

from the website, it sounds like you have to attach a dbl side tape of sorts to the film protector then attach to the cam's LCD ? or did i read wrongly?

thanks in advance.
