it's the successor to the d60...

Just wondering if the price not much diff between D5000, why would one wants to buy D3000 without live view and also not being able to use wired remote control. :dunno:

What is Nikon marketing sales thinking of?

I guess the price will be similar to or cheaper than D60..

so the price of D300 will drop down and is it still worthy to by D300? My choice is between D300, D300s and D700. Quite puzzled now.

You can take D300 out if D300s starts selling. You won't be able to find D300 new anymore once that happens.

It's basically just the addition of the D-Movie feature and a quiet shutter. That's about it. Looking at that, I don't think there's anything that can be improved on the D300 that can be addressed with a simple firmware upgrade since the additional features requires hardware changes, like the addition of a microphone and a Q mode on the shutter release mode dial.

The D300s comes in kit lens set too. With either the 16-85 or 18-200 VRII. :D

From dpreview.com
"The D300S will be available in two kit configurations: AFS DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-4.5 VR and the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II.:

nice:)

but i still prefer the D300 itself over the D300s

i feel the price isn't justifiable for that little minor upgrades

what is the price its retailing at????saw in one site its retailing at 1499.99 british pound...how true is that??

well, let's see how evil nikon singapore is to price it before we know...

and i think this thread is rather inappropriate cos the cam is already here... haha

I like this D3000

and i'm seriously considering the camera...

it would be perfect if for trips for fun-outings.

Ahh.....the D300s also comes with Dual Card slots, apart from the D-Movie feature and addition of a microphone. Still, with all these "upgrades", I wouldn't go for the D300s, unless it is within the same price range (+/- $100 - $200) as the current D300. :dunno:

same here...if its closer to 3k mark...i'd rather go for d300 or d700...haizzzz...in a dilemma...

Hopefully it is priced at 2.5k (body only)

I'm actually quite excited about the video capability. Autofocus + Stereo recording.

The new D300s does not have a huge difference from the D300. Probably those people holding a D300 wouldn't switch to that.

yes maybe this is something interesting to look out for

but not worth paying though...

ahhh i can't wait for the D300 to depreciate abit.

Those with d300 should have no reason to switch unless money too much.
Noise should be similar or better than D90.

Price should be same as D300 (RRP that is) D300 will be phased out soon.

The above is my own prediction. :D

It should be an attempt to capture (back) the consumer market, and those planning to upgrade from PnS. There's an idiot-proof "Guide" mode.

The kit is priced at US$599, with 18-55VR lens. That below S$1,000 for a DSLR!
