don't seem to have a lot of improvement from D60 on specs alone.
of coz, need to see the output picture first. maybe there are some magic in it...

OT: the title should have been "guessed", not "guest". Let's practice improving our English.

If the price is indeed below $1K and the high ISO quality is as good as, if not better than, the D5000, this could be a money maker for Nikon.

yes, if the price is place at 2.6-2.9k then must well go for D700 instead.

some people here are looking to buy D300s and some people are hoping the D300 will drop price.........i am in the middle, if the price not so high will consider this D300s, if the price is opposite then the $2K nets D300 will be waiting for me in the shops....

D3000 highest ISO is 1600 while it is 3200 for D5000.

combined all threads on the D300s into one. please continue ur discussion from here? thnx! :)

and damn... i like the SD slot especially since Eye-Fi is SD-based. woot... ;p

oops.. I think you have accidentally merged a D3000 thread into D300s.
Nikon should have done better in the numbering. D300 and D3000... too close

According to dpreview, the D300s gains video mode, an SD card slot, and a 1fps increase in burst shooting. That's just about all the differences I see (unless I missed some out).
I've been wanting a D300 for quite some time, and I think I will eventually get a D300 instead of a D300s.

Won't be surprised if the price is close to that of a D700. :dunno:

The dual slot of SD or CF is great.

However, after going through many exhibitions where there're many people with cameras, I need a camera screen that can swivel for the eyes in the skies capture.

firstly i don't think that it is going to come out on the 1st of August.haha. it is just too soon. unless nikon makes it a point to bring it in really quickly, like some worldwide release plan..haha. secondly, i don't think the D3000 is a stupid camera la...a bit like the canon 1000D which is actually selling as well! so there is a market for it and hence they will produce it! thirdly, i think the D300s price should be close to the D300, if not people will go for the D700 and hence that is just dumb as the marketing people screwed up..but then again, maybe they are pushing all the almost full frame peeps to full frame..lol. and lastly, you guys shouldn't jump into cameras so soon, nikon has a history of screwing up with power circuits..haha..wonder if any of this will carry on with the D300s and the D3000.haha.

I think late Aug would be a more realistic timeline... anyways.. they also included the quiet shutter. Well lets see what the reviews say, but thus far, being a d300, d700 and d3 user, not thrilled at all, and.... For the price, get the d700.

Also, the video is only 720p so if you want like real high quality stuff, better off with a proper video cam.
