More output picture from your D300, please.......;p

It seems that D300 is running out of stock and it is difficult for me to get one as I have not pre-ordered the camera.

Despite the fact that many people have got their D300s by now, Why aren't there many posts on sample photos and comments of their experiences with the new camera? Any shortcomings of this new model? What do you like about the camera etc...

cos there r ppl who dont wish to let everyone knows they own a d300.lol..
give it time..it will appear.

Was told that each authorise dealer only have 4 or 5 sets from 1st shipment, so "bo liao". Next shipment will be in 2 to 3 weeks time and price will drop a bit. Pre-book queue is still very long.

u mean take the same photo using the same setting izzit

okok i will do that later

anyway based on using the the D70s for the past year now and having the D300 for the past 2 days...i can a big difference in quality esp when u r shooting at high ISOs

for e.g during events and all using my D70s i use ISO640-800 to get a nice ambient lighting on the background and i have to shoot at speed of 1/15 - 1/30, f5.6 - f6.3
but now with the D300 i can use ISO 1000 - ISO 1600 and shutterspeed of 1/50 - 1/80 at f6.3 - f7.1

in terms of performance its definitely a huge jump...the noise control is superb, with 51pts focusing, i personally find tt it will greatly reduce handshake becoz u dun need to focus and recompose as much as using the D70s 5 pts.

furthermore at 12mp its double the D70s 6mp...i dun see any reasons other than financial matters thats gonna stop u from upgrading to this lovely new D300

my 2cts worth

Arhh why is there no one say "dun upgrade to this camera". Both my piggy bank and D70 is gona break tonight. ehehhe

Same here. Hope someone would give good reasons not to upgrade to D300 from D200 apart from financial reason.

Let me help you.
From 10mp DX to 12mp DX, from DX CCD to DX CMOS, hmm... not quite justified.
Upgrade to D3, then you see big differences!! :bsmilie:

just continuing from where we left off on the high ISO performance of D300. btw, IMO, if u have to ask whether D300 is for you or not... probably it isn't. ;)

took the cam out for a staff dinner at The Carousel last nite. probably the biggest bugbear i had with the D200 was the AWB performance and high-ISO (nothing above ISO800 for me.. and even at 800, it is pushing for me). so wat abt the D300?

well... the AWB is slightly better now. normally in a such a restaurant, it is hell for AWB cos of the mixed tungsten/florescent/wat have u lighting conditions... here are 2 pics straight out of my cam. i only resized it in NX. i'll leave it to you to judge on the AWB performance. personally? i think i'll still reach for my expodisc when the going gets REALLY tough..

ISO1600 (click on the image for the full-sized version - VERY large file)

ISO3200 (click on the image for the full-sized version - VERY large file)

but, i must say dat the new CMOS sensor (even tho still from sony) is already better than D200 for high-ISO performance. yeah. it is still a few rungs below D3. still for a prosumer DSLR from nikon, IMO, this is already better than previous iterations of nikons. well done, nikon! :)

well done nightwolf for bringing out the goodness of the camera. thanks for contributing too

Any chance of trying out "Dynamic Area Setting" with AFC to try out the 51pts AF on moving object like car or motorbike? Would be interested to know how this baby perform.

Lots of people has seen how good D300 noise levels are, but more people are interested how it compares to the other Nikon DSLRs.

I have done a non-scientific test against the D200 and D80. You may notice a few inconsistent factors that might affect the end-result of the images, but the objective is to share the out-of-the-box noise difference between D300 and existing products.

Questions:

1. How is the Lo-1 (aka ISO100) performance?

2. Is the dust removal feature?

3. How's the battery life?

Need to save another 3 more mth before I can get. :(
