u may wanna consider selling ur D80 and get the D200 if u not intending to get D300...take the chance to upgrade at a lower cost

That's a pretty good idea... but any tradeoffs for someone to move from D80 to D200?
e.g. poorer battery life?

Cons: Poorer battery life, poorer noise at high ISO, heavier.
Pros: Better weather seal, higher FPS, better colour (subjective), can meter with AI-S lenses.

saw one d300 at The camera workshop , the size seem so nice

sorry i am not interested in renting it, thanks by the way.

Anyone get the vertical grip? $$?

Hope this help a little.

Just a few question to clear up before I get mine tomorrow, hope you can help:

3) Most importantly, based on the few hours you had your cam, anything special to check/look out for when purchasing the D300? I mean other than what you would normally look for in any other cam, for instance I wouldn't know how to check if the Live View is working, for instance.

Just check the usual stuff for bad pixel etc etc nothing unusual. Live View is also new to me so just follow the manual and run it thru if you want. Other than that don't think you can check much without having a real world test of it.

The bad pixel you meant is for LCD or the CMOS sensor?

Do you guys check for the sensor? How?

Pls advise.

Thks

Think we're talking abt the LCD,

I guess just take a few pictures with the camera in the shop to roughly check that the sensor + camera operation is fine.

Today ???. I was first in line yesterday and already hundreds of shots liow loh. ;)

let me guess..
u were there before 1535hrs.

EDIT:
u seem to have the skills to see the future n answered my question 14 hrs in adv sia..

me just worry that will kana dead or stuck pixel in sensor..

But got warrenty.. so anything just go back bah..=)

Its a little scary that not alot of people are posting their ISO trial shots. I believe that is one of the attractive improvements from Nikon. The results I have seen so far have been quite ambiguous. Its definitely an improvement from my miserly D70s (but perfectly functioning) but how much?

I would have thought that alot of picts would have been up. =p but I guess they are too busy enjoying the new toy! Take more and show more!

Cheers,
tltan

True of False?

And they will be putting a coupon in D3 box that reads "Free bundle of 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 VR or 200-400/4 VR" ;p

It seems that D300 is running out of stock and it is difficult for me to get one as I have not pre-ordered the camera.

Despite the fact that many people have got their D300s by now, Why aren't there many posts on sample photos and comments of their experiences with the new camera? Any shortcomings of this new model? What do you like about the camera etc...

More sample picture from your D300 please.......;p
