Has anyone tried AA Alkaline batteries with the grip? With those, it's supposed to push the speed to 8 fps, though may not last many shots. What a bummer.

I got this estimated cost (in USD) for the complete set of grip to push D300 to 8 fps.

battery pack: $259
EN-EL4a battery: $109
battery charger: $119
battery cover $35

total: $522

Feel so ex!! Anyway I already one fourth there, since I went to buy the grip today. :P

For those buying...pls check all items must be inside....

Not forgetting a contact cover, manual and warranty card.
Though they may not be essenstial, but it comes as a package.

Cheers
T.D.

I'm using mine with 8x AA batteries and getting more shots per second as well, haven't measured whether it is indeed 8 per second but seems pretty good to me since I just couldn't justify the added cost of the EN-EL4 option.

Unless you are a D2 series owner, it will be better and cost-effective to get more AAs rechargables.

So comparing 8 x AA vs the EN-EL4 option:
1) Battery life comparison? I heard EN-EL4 provides 3- 4K shots on one full charge
2) Weight? Which one is heavier

For those who 'permanently' have their grip on... would it make sense to have an EN-EL4 battery in and not even bother with an EN-EL3 in the camera at all?

Anyone know when the next batch is coming in? Seems all sold out...

Well, at least you got the AA battery holder.

Yup, got it, that guy says he left it at the counter...make me go another trip to collect...wetz man!!:thumbsd:

Did you use rechargeable or alkaline?

I tried alkaline today. Took about 500 shots and battery indicator still showed full. $6.90 for 16 pieces.

Impressive...

I notice that you guys on this thread buy lots of D300 accessories.
Why don't you PM Yatlapball so that the price can be updated in the Nikon Price list
so that everybody knows where to get the item and how much they cost?
Else we will have to read through the entire thread to get the information.

Roger that, thks! But must buy D3 batt and charger to fully utilize the grip, dunno how much the charger??....

You mean charge to charge more than 1 battery at a go? Tot the D300 already have a battery charge inside liao? :dunno: ........... sorry, never use a grip before, just checking.

I believe that people are talking about using the EN-EL4a batteries; therefore need a different charger than the one that came with the D300.

Talking about EN-EL4a batteries, does anyone know if you can use the MH-21 battery charger? All MH-22's seem to be out of stock, but managed to find a place selling the MH-21; however, the manual does not state that it can be used for the EN-EL4a, it only mentions the EN-EL4. I presume that it can because the D2Xs comes with the EN-EL4a and MH-21 (according to the Nikon SG website) while the D3 comes with the EN-EL4a and MH-22.

Finally, haven't been able to find the BL-3; anyone know which shop has any in stock?

the mh-21 can charge the el4a battery. IIRC, the only diff bet these 2 batteries is the capacity. u are lucky... managed to find a place dat sells the mh-21. ;p

the bl-3 covers are currently out of stock, even in US. i'm waiting for bhphotovideo to stock up on these 2 items b4 ordering... :(

I'm in the dilemma that I can't find all the 'accessories' at one time, so I haven't bought the MH-21 yet. Without any one component, it doesn't work; what a Catch22.......

then slowly wait lor. not like you need to use the ENEL4 so urgently.
