They already passed it around the shops in Japan, I was there too late to try it, and too early for the launch

Yeah, st price is around $2900 IIRC. 6 digit yen. Thanks to TMC for bringing me around the camera shops

Well, actually no need to fly all the way to Japan just to get your hands on one... But I'm guessing only a select few are able to have it in their hands.

I feel that my D70 is sufficient for events and normal shooting. If I am so interested in resolution and sharpness, then D200 isnt enough already. You see, D200 is somewhere in between. I would rather get a digital medium format esp. for studio shooting where I can print enlargements to frame on the wall.

But currently, my budget doesnt allow that...

It is good that most people do take trouble to consider their requirements and study the specs and weigh-in the pros and cons.

Though you believe that your setup in best suited with a D70s, others may want that extra MP or FPS or whatever but at the same time do not feel ready for a medium format camera with digital back which is costly, in that aspect the D200 really does create for itself a market to meet these requirements and I believe everyone will have to find out for themselves what is their push to go get the D200, the individual have to decide.

But isn't that their call to make? people will learn from their mistakes and be wiser from the lessons learnt.

I believe the CS community have already had many posts on these topics whether a camera body or better lens is more important, whether better to upgrade skills with existing DSLR rather than upgrade camera, whether worth getting more MP in DSLR as that means bigger and faster machine required to process it, whether more CF memory needed etc..., I believe we have beaten this topic to death.

Yes, there will still be some who will make "wrong decisions" or "irrational" or "whatyoumaycallit", but ultimately it is their call.

If it's sufficient then good for you, I sure have other needs on the D200 that the D70 cannot fulfill.
