sorry about that just stressed, I need to go home

but just use your camera until it holds you back in terms of creativity
then and only then do you deserve a better camera.

but before that spend your hard earned money on lenses.
when you move onto a better camera you will already have better lenses.

Buy buy buy

dun be so stress!! have a good hot shower at home...it helps ;)

Ok Guys!!

Then which lens that is good and moderate for the D200 to start with?

Pls advise....:dunno:

suggest a 17-55 (everyday walk about) or 12-24 (landscape), both lens are highly rated for quality

...not to mention price also,

17-55mm about $2100
12-24mm about $1600

Any lower budget than this?:bheart:

Kit lens...cheap and good.

It'll make bettter sense to have a better lens than a better body as Ortega mentioned. Glass is more important part of the tool. The body is just for better convenience.

I think at 10MP, there is no point to scrimp on the lens. 18-70 AF-S wouldn't really do justice, unless you like to shoot at f8-f11 always. Else you are just buying the extra fps (need or not in 1st place?), weather sealing etc..... Go for prime lenses, cheaper and better, and more importantly it will make you learn better.

It's like a chicken and egg question for him, which comes first? The lens or the body...:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

I mean this is a strictly equipment discussion. Its hardware, a discrete piece of equipment. We are not talking about the "software" behind it, ie the photographer. To me its a no brainer, assuming you can afford the D200, buy the D200. Simply its a better camera. If you could go for the D2Hs or even the D2X.

To me the FM2 is only good for me as a reliable backup and also for my "leisure" when I want to "force" myself to "input" manually for my shots. It has little mileage now as most of my pix are now taken on digital.

Subconciously most of us are guilty of "hardware worshipping" but only some dare to admit it openly. Lets stop preaching "its the photographer that counts" in a hardware thread, it does not help.

In the past, its the lens. Now it seems that the body also counts.

you can try a D2X with a bad lens and see what the body can do.

there must be a balance of body, lens and photographer.

To a certain extend I dun really subscribe to the-man-behind-the-camera. Its just a sour grape remark.

just a reminder of what you posted.

of course, if you can afford to, buy the best, you should go all out and spoil yourself.
but remember that it is a balance.

Hey Guys!

Do you think that D200 come with standard lens (18-70mm)?

the tread starter was asking the above, and we are discussing lens on body.
Equipment talk.

i was just using the photog in the equation to show that the body is not all that important and that a lower grade body can also take great pictures.

with this i'd advise the tread starter to upgrade the lens first b4 moving to another body.

Obviously dun compared to D70 with D70, I am not saying anything about D70!! I am refering that the D200 is better than D70!! in term of better focusing and its technology from D2X. Obviously it gives better images...... who dun know good photo depends on the photographers' techniques and fundamental lah

If that argument is valid, then Canon's 1DS Mk II is the bestest of them all!!!
WOW!! 16 megapixels and all that jazz... Swee swee, man....

FYI, I have used a humble 3mp P&S and... I am more than happy with the results.

If you feel the need to get the D200 BECAUSE it is better than the D70, good for you. We need people like you to drive the economy, so people like us can get better bonuses at the end of the year. And on the same note, why not get the 1DS Mk II as well? Its a darn good camera... Considering the specs...

For me? I am "downgrading" to a simple P&S. Looking for a good coolpix.....

Hahaha.......:bsmilie: :bsmilie: . My 2 cents...

Please I am just a small individual. Please dun gimme the opportunity to mock you by telling me that you believe that you could actually support the economy.

Cheers to you too.

IMO, many of the features in the D200 are desirable, good-to-have stuff. It depends on what you shoot most of the time. Sports, wildlife or portraits etc.

And depending on your pocket - if your money easy come, easy go, give yourself a D200.

For me, this is just play-play la. So, a D70 is good inuf. Apart from lenses, I spend on other things rather than more on a camera. Like what Ken Rockwell said, a dSLR is a disposable Polaroid - to be retired in 2, 3 or 5 years depending on you. Today, for example, you can hardly see any one using a D100 already.

the [problem] with d200 is tt its too good for normal lenses, only pro grade lenses with pro grade prices will complement it, like 17-35 70-200 etc. otherwise by using things like the kit lens ur really limiting the performance of the d200. like tt u might as well get a d70s. chances are that the 10mp d200 will out resolve many lenses like the 12mp d2x does.

so its kinda like a commitment, once u get d200 ur commited to getting the rest of the package or ur juz wasting money with it

we're not saying d200 is bad, juz tt it may not be the best for u.

im currently using my d70s with my sch's 80-200 push/pull, slo la but i still manage to cover all the events like sports day and greduation day
im going to get the 70-200vr from bh soon though
im upgrading coz the pushpull af is juz too slo
