I got the H1 this afternoon. My roommate also got one.
Sony H1 and Canon S2 are good cam. I prefered S2 but I still bought it just for the good price and no S2 today.
The price is: 735(cam+adapter+charger+2battery+LCD protector)+19(HMC multi-coated hoya)+8(2Sanyo2500)+8(cleaning kit)+free256Mb sony memory stick pro=$770(incl GST)
It has global warranty.
How about it?
I am a little regret, cause I am focused on S2 for long time:(, No chance now.

har..iszit really tat awful?? what's wrong wif it..im

I was also comtemplating whether to get the S2 or H1. From the majority of the reviews I've read, the two are more or less on par, each having some slight superiority over the other in different areas.

One of my main concerns was that some reviews claim that H1's anti-shake isn't as good as its competitors. Can't really comment on the comparisons because I haven't tried other cameras. Also, Canon is better known for its cameras. But having tested the H1, I can say I was pleased with the results of its anti-shake and the quality of images.

I also love the large LCD screen and the fact that it only uses 2AA batts. I also favour the H1 because of the lower price (I bought my H1 (camera + LCD protector only) in Malaysia for about S$670) compared to the S2 (especially when both cameras are said to be equally good).

In my opinion, nothing about the S2 really justifies the higher price. However, that's not to say the S2 isn't a good camera. I'll probably be equally happy with it had I bought the S2 instead. ;)

Yeah, same to u.

S$670?? tat sounds cheap!

ya i thought of the same too. i might juz get a H1 at 700++ & a 512 memory stick, tat tops up to over 800. still less than S2. & for a price like tat, u get a camera of such quality, on par with S2! doesn't sound bad at all! somemore, i feel somehow pple have the branding issue...tat canon is the most preferred camera, when comes to photography & when compared to sony. but i dun wanna be bias, preferred camera doesnt mean, sony can't catch up or it's not as good as canon. i'll juz like to focus on their quality points, not juz brand.

Hmmmm

I agree with you. For instance, I don't think that panasonic, in terms of brand, is on par with canon or nikon. But it has been producing some well received cameras, such as the FZ5 or FZ20.

I dunno if S$670 was a good buy considering nothing else was thrown in. But the bargain city price looks fairly reasonable.

Hi I bought the H1 at Sungai Wang in Kuala Lumpur. Can't remember the shop's name, gotta go home and check the warranty. :embrass:

It's the large camera shop next to the money changer on the ground floor. ;p

Hi JuzJaz, lens hood is basically used to prevent flare when you are shooting your subject near to a very bright source of light. The flare can ruin a perfectly good shot.

Most of our cams are using fixed lens so lens adaptor allows your cam to be connected to other lens accessories such as teleconversion lens, wide angle lens...

Hope it helps and please correct me if i'm wrong. Still a newbie. :D
