CS bicycles and cyclist thread

Just bumped in to this thread. I'm thinking of buying a folding Aleoca from carrefour but I read from other forums that it is not good. Can anyone let me know what is the difference of Aleoca with say a Dahon. I think the cheapest Dahon is 500+ whereas an Aleoca is 100+. I plan to use it to cycle at east coast park and park connectors. TIA

Dahon MU Ex around +/- $4500 , their top range bike, doing 27-30km/hr is a breeze. If it is purely for exercise or leisure, lower end bike will do unless you are restricted by time and need to speed. If you are thinking of doing off road, forget about this bike, Dahon Flo or Airnimal Rhino would be better choice. Both equally expensive, around this price also. Maybe worthwhile consider second hand as prices drop very significantly. Saw your post in the bike forum...happy searching. :) I am looking out for second hand Flo :bsmilie:

so how much does the Birdy, Brompton and Dahon Mu ex cost? Are they easy to bring onto the MRT ?

The Brompton is impressively small.

Most of the fold-up bikes are able to pass the MRT minimum size requirement. Just ask the shop.

The thing is not about whether it will pass but how small and light you like the bike to be for you.

Go to this link and then maybe visit the shop to get more advice. They are pretty good with foldup bikes and stock some of the best and pricey brands though they have some relatively reasonable price bike.

Guys, thanks for the heads up on the foldies :D

any recommendation for a bike shop selling bicycle shorts ? budget 50++ , riding trip to cover from start to end of east coast.

You don't exactly need to wear any particular biking shorts just to do short rides like this. The extra padding is not going to make much of a difference if you are new to riding. Wear it or not.. your butt will ache heheh.

50++ for a padded crotch shorts is almost hard to find. Most are about $79 on average with the padded and lycra material. You want to use those MTB shorts with built in padded shorts will set you back about $100+

A pair of sport shorts or any kind of active sports shorts will be fine.

Just to let you know, for seats.. the more soft and cushy it gets.. it is NOT good. In fact they do more damage to you over time and casue more chaffing to your thigh and groin. Alot of season cyclist we use pretty hard seats. Some use carbon fibre seat which are entirely solid. And the only padding is from the cycling shorts we wear. But yet we can ride long distance without problem.

Have been cycling daily for at least two hours. My butt get use to the saddle.
It is not necessary to spend that extra money to acquire a carbon fibre seat.
All you need is personal discipline and a trained mind to achieve what you
intend to do. I am riding on a $85 market bike and achieve what I want.
In the leisure hours of cycling with buddies, we can enjoy our more expensive
MTB.

Hope you kidding... hor. You don't need to get carbon fibre. That is just something more serious cyclist would do. And usually for other reasons then solve a pain in a the butt scenario heh. You are only just starting. You can be use to riding on a saddle after riding for a few weeks but once you stop cycling for about 6 months .... you start again, you are going to feel the ache almost all over again.

I would advice you use whatever saddle you have for now lah.

Anyone done a cycling cum photography tour in Cambodia ? If so, can advise which tour group and is it wise to bring your own bike ? Me very keen...itching to see Cambodia, a land highly recommended for cycling and photography.

Speaking of saddles, I saw a nice leather one the other day, classic and nice... any idea how much it costs?

Bumping up the thread. Just got myself a GIANT roadbike recently to get myself more active in cycling ( great transport as well )

Still fiddling with gears and not quite used to a road bike..

Nice bump

just got a trek.. trying to do about 10km recreational riding daily

I actually got myself one of the more expensive Aleocas. The frame is quite good and strong yet lightweight. The gear shifts are cheeeeeap though. So i'll overhaul the gearshifts and the brakes, but overall still quite cheaper compared to a high-end bike.

Which model did you get bro and the price?
